Been reading my service book. It says an ATF change is needed at 60k km. It also states it's a one off change. This equates to 37500 miles. My car has now done over 80k miles. Should I have it done again, stick to their one off change or just leave it for a while but have a second change soon. It's not as if it's a cheap bit of work.

No, I'd do it again.

Oil is oil, why would a 1 off change work unless it was a completely different spec that went in permanently.

Olly did my old car with MB Club discount for £154, thats cheap, but its not a very expensive job and good for the car.

A one-off change is not that uncommon. It allows for the removal of machining swarf and bedding in debris. Once 'run-in' there would be little extra generated.

That said I would and did have my ATF changed for a second time at 90k.

The smoothness is very good, and probably when crockers had it done, the dealer did it and probably only got half of it out. It would need done again, properly, to get the fluid out of the TC.

Looking at my records it was done at a service 2 years ago at 49000 miles so I was late in having it done. As I'm on 82k I think I'll defer it for another 10k and get it done next year. :thumb:
Gearbox feels fine. Mind you I couldn't tell difference after last change.

ATF = Automatic Transmission Fluid

Just had 2 pints of apple juice - now guessing Automatic Transmission Fluid.........

Yeah! Give the man a cigar!! :D :D

Service handbook says. 37500 miles once only. So now I'm really confused. :confused:
The MB Electronic Service Sheet clearly states changing the gearbox oil & filter once only at 37,500 miles on the 7G-Tronic 'box on Angie's SLK, so that corresponds with what's in your service handbook. Why not try the ESS for your car and see what it says?
