Average miles per year

BMW X1 1200 miles

MX5 640 miles

Range Rover 4300 miles

Work from home being more prevalent probably had a big impact

Interesting to see diesels doing less miles than petrols

When I was selling cars in the 90s we used to see the average car in after a year and 12,000 miles....its slowly dropped since to about 8,000. I used to do about 20k a year... which is why a bought my first derv car...an Alfa 159....I now do about 5000.....but do about 15,000 I'm my company car/truck. So I'm not sure what that proves really!

It proves that you still do about 20k a year! :D

Quite....but my private car mileage is down by about 7k per annum ....artificially helping to drive down that national average private mileage figure.

I’ve quickly checked the MOT history on the cars I use most and it adds up to around 27,000 miles, but that’s split across a few cars.
If I may ask, is that a mix of personal and business usage?

I insure for 5,000 on the E coupe (Inc 1,000 business) and 3,000 on the SLK. I won't do either, perhaps 4k and 2k

The X1 family wagon has 7,000 against it and might do that (Inc what Mrs F does pootling around Southampton)

Wow this is a revelation for me, there’s a thread on here called ‘EV Facts’ or something along those lines… (I must add it contains very little facts!) and some people on there seem to insinuate the vast majority are regularly doing journeys of over 300 miles. 🤣🤣

A car spends approx 95% of its life parked.
So you think that a vehicle does 22,000 miles a year, assuming an average speed of 50mph

Sure about that ?

365 days. 24 hours …

I recognise your quote but I’d suggest that it’s wrong and that the true average number is closer to 98%

And yes, I know that a few daft souls spend 25 hours a week driving, but they’re not average for our 35 million cars

Is that your driving, or does it include other family members, and mileage done without you in the car?
