Not to happy, just had the following work done at a indi and on the way home within 2min i get the BAS/ESP Visit Workshop warning.

replace nsf bottom suspension arm.
replace rear pads.
replace rear hoses and bleed system.
replace rear pad retaining pins.

I have noticed when the cars in park and I press the brake, I can hear a clicking noise from around the centre console.

any ideas guys, so i don't look clueless

Did you have the above work or is that what it is saying it needs?

Did you drive straight back to the garage?

Can they not just read the fault codes? If you have had the above work done could it be that they have knocked something causing the error?

No, I called him and he said try and restart the car when I get home, if still there go back tomorrow

I will take it back tomorrow for them to read the codes, just wanted some heads up to what they have caused. Maybe the have broke a abs sensor?

Thanks

This message came come up sometimes when the battery voltage is low. If they kept COMAND on to listen to the radio while working on the car etc. Basically ESP switches itself off when voltage is low because it can not work reliably. If you had a good long drive home which charged the battery, and the fault does not appear again, then this may be it.

I was hoping this was the problem, but I did 20 miles before I restarted the car and issue still there.

would this cause this issue? also the abs light is on. Could this be caused by a speed sensor being knocked when they did the suspension arm?

Possibly.

The centre console clicking is the reverse interlock solenoid and is normal.

Thanks for that, I think i am being a bit paranoid every time I hear something . I suppose until its on the Star i will be non the wiser

This maybe a long shot and I've really no idea...but

When I had my ML the ESP light came on once when I was in France and I don't think I'm dreaming it that in the manual it says switch the car on and lock the steering all the way one way then all the way the other.

No idea what this does but it did work.

On a seperate issue I had the BAS/ABS/ESP light on and this turned out to be a damage in the rear wheel speed sensor on the inner arch £40 and fixed.

My model of ML didn't have the £10 break switch under the pedal but it was built into server and that apparently would have been many £'s

Hope its an easy fix

I agree with EDZ649 I have had this problem a number of times, and it has always been the brake-light switch. On my latest car W203 there is no brake light switch as such, it is a brake pressure sensor, and this is more difficult to change, and therefore more expensive if done by a workshop.

Well got to the bottom of it yesterday. The steering lock sensor went out of alignment, I think the battery had drained while it was in the garage and then once charge it calibrated the wheels at the wrong position. So after resetting the sensor back to zero it cleared all the faults.
