I have a 2000 E220 CDI (I believe this is referred to as a W210). The current system is an Audio10CD and I've got the CD changer in the boot.
I want to change this head unit and will probably remove the CD changer as I don't use it.
I am thinking about getting the Pioneer DEH-P70BT (link here http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/product_detail.jsp?product_id=10477&taxonomy_id=25-121) and probably the iPod adapter CD-IB100 (link here http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/product_detail.jsp?product_id=10148&taxonomy_id=25-38
I have purchased the removal keys so I can take out the existing unit (from what I'm reading this is commonly referred to as a 'Becker' unit).
The spec for the Pioneer says it's an ISO connector.
The reasons I'm going for this particular head-unit are the bluetooth facility (allowing me to remove my Nokia cradle & handsfree kit), easy iPod integration plus the possibility to expand to DAB in the future. I have no real interest in a CD changer. The MP3/AAC/WMA compatibility on the head-unit is a nice-to-have.
My questions are :
1. is the existing connector on my head-unit ISO also ? I'm guessing yes.
2. if I install the Pioneer will I still have the steering controls (volume/tuning) ?
3. will the dash display still work in the same way (that is - displaying track information/radio information).
4. Is this unit available in the USA ? I'm travelling there on business next week and if the price is right I'll pick it up over there.
