Becker Special CD Changer compatability

Hello everyone, I am new to this particular forum although I have posted elsewhere on this site.

I have bought a 1993 w124 320TE and am in the process of returning it to stock condition.

I have fitted a Becker Special BE2211 cassette head unit and wish to add a CD-Changer. I have a MC3196 (non-fibre optic) CD-Changer which my installer says is not compatible. I am not convinced. Is he right? I understood this model to be compatible with the Special and Exquisit head units. Do I need separate amplification (it seems to work OK so far)? Where does the CD-Changer go in a wagon?

All and any help is much appreciated.

Not really sure about what I think are North American spec cars/audio I am assuming North America from some americanisms in your post " stock condition" & "wagon" :)

Anyhow, I think that the only real clue to compatability of head unit & CD changer would be that If your head unit has an oblong fibre optic slot then you need a fibre optic CD changer. Other members may have a more knowledge of the model numbers you mentioned though

Thanks. I'm right here in Great Britain. Well, Newcastle. No fibre optics on either end: seems to be standard DIN/ISO ten pin plug on both head unit and changer.
