Beware - Watch out for this one!!

If I could actually see things getting safer then I might consider it reasonable , but in spite of advances in technology I don't see a safer society emerging - things seems to be getting worse.

I think the problem is Fred, the advances in technology has also fuelled the advances in greed and jealousy which in turn has fuelled crime. There are a lot of people out there who want a good living but are not prepared to work for it and think they can just take it from someone else or people who feed on the weakness of others. :(

I would put you in charge John - I think you're wonderful.

Everything in good order though surely? next thing a traffic warden will have the power to fingerprint anyone who argues about a ticket .

OK, let's go this way , but let us take it across the boards , no more jibbing and apologizing for getting tough - though I think it's too late, and in fact I'm frightened for my children .
I fear we have slipped a fair way down the slippery slide, but the first thing I would insist on is an improved video system to be worn by all front line officers and if they are rude to the public they would be disciplined.

BUT

Those that use offensive or abusive words or behaviour will also be punished, none of this, "I'm telling you for the ninety ninth time" m'larky  :D

If people want to be offensive then there should be consequences.

That's my starter :)

Oh and those arrested for being drunk and disorderly will scrub out their cells, police vans and the streets where they 'performed'

All speed camera's will be SPEC operated with camera to identify the driver :D :D

Boy I'm having fun four hours sleep since Monday :o :o

Forgot to say that life would mean life, five years would equal five years unless the prisoner behaved in an exemplary manner.

Cigarettes would be given individually and smoked, or disposed of. These would also be a perk that had to be earned. Visitors would be sat behind armoured glass and NOT allowed to touch one and other. No parcels at all and only opened letters to each other. No telephones, mobile phones. Television only for those of good behaviour and prisoners to work, work for a profit.

The police are great. I'm on my speed awareness course on Saturday for doing a breakneck 39mph in a 30mph zone at 10pm one night on a very quiet main road. It's cost me £85. I was watching a program the other night where a young girl was arrested for being equipped with pliers and nicking clothes from a high street shop. She got off with an £80 fine. Basically that infers I'm a worse criminal than she is.

you are. you bought a car.
she only nicked clothes and she does not have to pay the fine either as she has no money.

Why beyond my field of knowledge but I thought the police were not allowed to give out this information? There have been quite a few examples of police officers trying to be helpful and giving out the details of car owners to friends. This action has cost them their jobs, loss of pensions etc.

Regards
John

neither are the HMRC office but they still gave out 22million details, and are still doing so as we speak.
Even the apology letters went to the wrong homes.
Funny they always seem to know where you live when you owe taxes.

Ah well at least we know the police do not like maxed out clios.
Funny i always siuspected half of them did not know what they were doing.
Did a forum member here not forget to produce his counterpart and got away with it?

Well it's hardly a big deal - if they had any idea about technology the full data could be on a chip on the card . I don't get it at all , they know you have the license , you know you have it , but they still want to see it? - the old reason was to lift it in the case of endorsable offences , perhaps the same reason now? or possibly so they can make sure that the issue number is correct ?

can they not just endorse it through the computer records?
i mean a criminal does not have all his convictions wrote on a piece of paper in his bedroom does he.
It can always be checked through the police computers by any relevant body like the CRB

Ironically the silly buggers put all the details on the "we are sorry for being idiots" letter , so for every letter that got lost then the details got lost again - I don't know why they don't stop peeing about and just post the lot on the 'net together with a few password hints and links to hacking sites - at least everyone will know where they stand.

Well, at least she was unlikely to kill someone with her pliers. Unlike you in your car....

That's the thinking in these people's heads. If a small child shot out (despite it being past its bedtime) and ran straight in front of the car then it would probably die. They don't even like you doing 30 - they want 30's to be 20.

The Chief Con being banned for doing 90 in a 60 yesterday at least proves that speeding isn't dangerous per se.

i say she is very likely to kill someone with the pliers.she certainly does not need a pliers to nick clothes.
it is for tag stripping and also to act as detterent to would be stoppers.
Same reasons thieves carry weapons and bats. why did she not just throw the clothes in a bag and run out the shop?
Are you saying if you confronted her, she would not threaten you with the weapon?
And if a kid runs infront of your car at 30mph there is no guarantee the kid will not be dead as well.

The pliers will be to cut the security cable. If I was rummaging through my toolbox looking for a tool to use as an offencive weapon, I would hardly pull out the pliers - a hammer would be a tad more useful, or a screwdriver (Cue Monty Python: Right, who wants to come at me with a pineapple?).

The statistics are widely quoted: hit a child at 30mph and there is an 80% chance they will live, hit them at 40mph and there is an 80% chance they will die. I have seen two children under 7 years old run down in my local town centre in the last four years - thankfully both were at speeds of around 30mph - one child only just survived - lucky she wasn't hit at 39mph.

so the statistics are fishy then.
government statistics always come up when they need to implement a rubbish policy.
like 2000 terrorists waiting in the Uk to strike.
If you know them why not get them then, or is it to do with the detention laws?
maybe 7 yr olds running around town centres should be reviewed as well as only one survived why not ban cars altogether as they are the biggest threat since bubonic plague

Do you know - I am beginning to empathise with you - kindred spirits etc .

I am cobblered off with mother being the first to rant and rave at 2.3mph speed limits because they cannot be bothered to turn up to school and keep their 'orrible little offspring on the pavement where they belong - notwithstanding the fact that they are all on their mobiles phoning each other and letting the self appreciation society know that they are just about to turn up and cause mayhem.

I'm really sorry to say that I treat anyone who looks a bit lively and most people who do not with the utmost caution and behave accordingly - that is how we have allowed our society and country to degenerate.

If I could be bothered we could set up the "recycled floggle" action group.

Forgive me for suggesting that they shouldn't have been in the road in the first place- if they were run down by a JCB at the legal limit they wouldn't have survived - parents should offer a prayer and also apologize for their negligence (all things being equal) - how about the parents apologize to the drivers for the stress caused - perahps a few drivers should sue for stress related injuries .

Is that so? I think it is highly likely that the chav is likely to harm you attempting to effect an escape - Oh , you weren't going to get involved? Very public spirited. (actually I wouldn't risk getting nicked by an over enthusiastic woodentop after trying to stop some ratbag)

Every day I see school "children" (savages) kill each other - tell me there is no substance in that - then tell me I am safe stopping a thief or just "getting in the way"

One got a suspended sentence today and people say Singapore is wrong for caning trash.
