I was having a look on Autotrader and found that CL500s W215s have really been hit hard by depreciation now. A W plate car can now be had for just under £16K with FMBSH but the one below has 125 000 miles on clock...!

The one below is a Y plate with 96K miles and up for £17K and theres probably room to haggle as well...;)

Matt reckons he was losing £3.5k a month on depreciation on the '65 ....

Not helped by Merc dealers offering pre-reg 06 cars with 0 miles for £15-18K UNDER list..

My CL65 lost nearly £4K a month before I bought it.

A bit unfair as these are high milers. Glass's guide, the trade bible, gives a part ex figure for a CL 500 from the year 2000 (the year matters) on a W plate of £16,700 in average condition and over £18k in excellent condition. For a six and a half year old car that's not bad in my view. An S class 500 of similar miles and age would be worth part ex about £12k, or about 25% of new price. A lot more than most. Fords and Vauxhalls struggle to beat 25-30% when 3 years old.
