@SL03WLY . Was tempted, but someone bought before me. It is probably for the best, as I have not finished my W221 yet..

With my track record, no doubt I'll find another "plausible" reason to sell on this, my 8th V8, next year: old age, an estate, or a nagging wife....

And by that stage the servicing will be up to date, it'll have two keys and that "misty" wax coat will have been sorted out.

I like the colour combo but what's up with the mot history on this car?
It has also failed on items that you wouldn't really expect on a car with such low miles car. Some of the mots are in km which sometimes can happen but they just don't seem to match as years have gone by.

Second mot is in miles at 21850 miles which is 35164km.
Then the third mot is in km at 27742 which doesn't add up as 27742km is 17238 miles but the car had 21850 miles the year before that! Some might say maybe the 27742km was meant to be miles not km but then in 2016 it is km again and then miles after which don't add up going by the previous MOT's.

The mot history is a big mess imo

I hadn't thought about it like that, but I've had thirteen, all bought with the intention of keeping them, since I started with Mercedes in 2013... (Fourteen if you count the XK.) In fact, not but, really, now I think about it...

At least my V8’s have been spread over two decades, while my wife has had five early mk2.5 MX5’s over the same time.

It’s a silly point but I prefer the hushed nature of the saloon over the more resonant “sound box” of the estate. (And I can now borrow my son’s X3 for occasional load lugging)

This black ash interior feels more modern than the faded burr walnut of that silver 2010 estate that I had. A cosmetic thing that I should have just fixed for a grand, but didn’t notice how important it was.

And the second owner may have given it a mild haircut, but the service history and bodywork condition shows that the haircut can’t have been big: the paintwork’s too immaculate all round, as is the interior: better than any E500, CL500 or S500 that I’ve owned, all sub 50k and a decade old.

It helps that it was just two owners from 2009-2021, three owners in total.

My MB specialist will delve into the history properly when he sees it. W212’s hold mileage records in three different places, so things can be worked out.

The bigger issue, for me, was the failure to do more than A services over the last eight years. New plugs, ATF etc overdue

Lovely interior; just like my CLS, except that the black plastic trim panels below the black ash match the seats. Same with the lower door cards, which is not the most practical setup, but goes with the rest of the car. The carpets, thank goodness, are black like yours; my last E500 had the matching ones to the light seats - not the best idea for muddy boots...

TBH, the colour scheme is why I bought the CLS in the first place, really.

It's interesting the colour thing. I'm tempted to get "almond beige" or whatever the colour is, carpets to lighten the interior to open it up. But maybe it makes sense to leave it with black to make it that bit smaller. But I'll leave all the cosmetic stuff until I'm satisfied that the car is serviced up to spec and fault-free. (Not that I'm accusing dealers of ever hiding an issue, cough)

The other thing that I forgot to mention earlier is that the tyres on the car still have 7mm tread and are date-stamped 2016, which was another reason (as well as the general condition) for thinking it can't have done that many miles over the last six years.

I notice this stuff because I've bought cars in the past which were a decade old but "needed" new tyres because they were still sat on "out of the factory" 10 year old rubber.
