s212 e500, I know these are scarce but..

The plate is only one letter of mine!!
Yeah I get excited about nonesense. 😂

Sold very quickly?
Yes, had plenty of phone calls this last week, and a very nice gent just closed the deal this afternoon. I guess the rarity helps, plus the full history seemed to be appealing.

Perfect - sounds like it has gone/will be going to a great home. Hopefully he keeps us updated on it

I bought it 😁..what a fantastic car. Perfectly balanced. Wafty ride comfort in an s-class kind of way with the power of a CL500 and practicality that the EClass estate provides with the most essential gadgets and Nappa leather.. Of all the Mercs I've owned this might become my favourite. Thanks SW18.. Will post some pics tomorrow. Just need to fix a few bits (glove box is loose and some age related bodywork bits).

Glad you're enjoying it. I'm still really happy with mine and it's certainly the favourite of the four Merc's I've owned.

Looking forward to yet another drive to the west coast of France in the summer.

Waiting for my bonus before getting the door speakers upgraded.

Amazing - the enjoyment won’t cease 😀

Agree - also the fourth for me. 150k clocked over this week - to the same again

Yes, the car is known on here as are the previous and current owners.

MB are picking up thd tab.
Yes I bought this about 6 months ago. I took it for a routine service with my Indy who noticed corroded subframe during the service. No symptoms of this happening. I think you just need to inspect it regularly. I was quoted north of £2.5k to replace by my indie (as also rear brake lines were corroded and best to replace whilst subframe is dropped).

However I had heard that this is a known issue to Mercedes and so took it to my local main dealer and asked if it was covered with their 30 year corrosion warranty.

They agreed to replace for free without any quibble and it is there at the moment. Can’t fault them. Oh, other than when I went to pick it up yesterday they said that the brakes were no longer working and could they keep it a bit longer to see what they had done 😂

Which one do you have? There have been a few sold recently, a silver one, a green one, the brown one. I've lost track a bit, but used to know which was where!

Wasn’t there a list posted one time?

Similar the the SL and CL lists?

I’m out and about so can’t hunt for it at the mo…

Good to hear (although a shame about the brakes).

Mine's back - now fitted with a new, super-fast starter motor.

Much better.

Is this another new one - I have not seen before - another '11 plate as is mine - looks like no extras to standard factory spec?

Pretty good for that mileage. As you say, standard spec, plus the tow bar. Ideal for the caravan, horse box, and yacht mob.

So no electric memory heated seats, no sunroof, nor SatNave (I think)

Not sure if it will have an MMI interface in the glove box to stream bluetooth audio.

"Full service history" sounds good. Only an inspection will tell exactly what's been done and when. Could be main dealer annual, through to bloke at the end of the road, mainly oil service. But easy to establish just what it is.

Great cars with a lovely silky motor. I did look at a saloon E500 212 when I was going that way (changed plans now)......the main things that put me off was a £695 VED, same as E63, insurance that's only 4 groups lower than a 212 E63 5.5TT and also a claimed MPG that's 4 mpg WORSE than the 5.5 twin turbo E63. All a bit too close to E63 running costs.....for my liking at least....and no AMG badge!:)

Exactly. You can have two E500's for the price of one £20k E63, but that E63 does have an AMG badge and a handmade engine.

It all comes down to what it's being used for. If it's long distance motorway work not much of a difference, it's it's con brio around the Stelio or parked outside the Dog and Duck, the AMG is the business, even at twice the price.

I'm not sure about the 10% mpg difference. Difficult to judge as people have different driving styles. Insurance group? Depends on the individual. To some 4 groups will be significant, to others irrelevant.

Don't think this one has featured in this thread before so yes this looks like a 'new' one. Same colour as mine but agree the spec looks basic
