Bilt Hammer

It states in the description it fills swirls, however at that price its worth a shot. Did you apply by hand or machine?

I applied it by hand, all I have is a cheap single-speed Halfords buffer which I am yet to use. Took me just 4 hours to do the whole car (I was claying, applying and buffing as fast as I could (and as thoroughly) and what I used dries very quickly).

Anyway, it got rid of swirls for me and with a good wax hopefully it'll stay that way

@300CE: Very impressive, Autoglym's clay did a very good job too but it takes a lot of the Quick-Detailer lubricant to clay the car (so much so that when it almost ran out (having been used to clay my old car) I had to dilute it with water to have enough to finish the job!). I just wish my old C124 polished out that well!

Well if you ever take the plunge and get yourself a DA polisher, they'll be plenty of chaps on here (including myself) to give you advice! :thumb:

From what I've read over at Detailing world this is designed more for hand application.

Well had a crack with the clay and then the polish / cleanser.

Clay - well to be honest couldn't really see much difference afterwards - clay was a bit dirty but not massively so.

Polish / Cleanser - thought it was an easy product to use and thought the finish (for hand application) was very good. - Not in the "detailed" class - but I was impressed with it. Better than Autoglym SRP. Now do I wax it or leave it..As I'm knackered Im leaving it so will be interesting to see its durability.

Really? I applied one coat of Autoglym HD. Dirt wipes off easily with that on, and over winter I'd be wanting a bit of protection (the Cleanser-Polish doesn't protect as such). Also, apparently it makes use of fillers (as well as abrasives) to get rid of swirl marks. If it does, you'll be wanting to put a layer of something (like polish) over it to keep the filler in. And it adds more shine!

Did you use a cleanser first? I used HD Cleanser which I think made a bit of a difference (I know B-H's is a cleanser-polish but the HD one is so highly rated and I consider the Cleanser-Polish to be more a polish).

You must have clayed recently - and your car is much newer than mine. I knew mine had never been clayed when the bonnet was like sandpaper. Almost went through a whole bar taking tiny bits off each time the paint was so filthy.

And (sorry to push AutoGlym, I have nothing to do with them) you could now try using the glass polish (and maybe clay-bar your alloys and windscreen)? My windscreen had so much dirt part-embedded in it that I decided to clay it, got rid of the dirt. But the glass polish is amazing - didn't wash the windows first, was just a case of wipe on and buff off. Instructions recommend switching which bit of the cloth you buff it off with as the cloth will quickly get dirty.

Edit: Any photos yet? I know I shouldn't push from them when I've been promising in my thread to take decent ones. Will definitely do so this weekend

I've used the BH regular clay a few times now - did my 968 coupe twice, the C270 (B888dy roof of an estate is large!) and the 968 cabriolet - still have about 1/4 of the bar left! Spray bottle of tap water worked fine as a lubricant, although I now have a cheap QD to use instead.

First time you clay a freshly washed car you will not believe the colour change in the clay and the silky smoothness of the paintwork after claying!
