BJV Wheel Refurbishment Beware!!

I'd go with Wezzel. Let him know that he's is on the verge of losing alot of potential customers here, if there is not a satisfactory outcome.

Definitely let them know how much it might cost them in lost business. Not just from you but others here, ther need to know how much influence you & the forum have.

I was thinking about using them too for a couple of sets of wheels, perhaps not now.

Recommendation / repeat business is vital...

I remember Navs that you gave me their details, and i then enquired about a refurb, the price was good and i have been saving ....

However, this puts me off , especially as it would be a special journey and i would have to axle stand the car while the wheels are gone ....

Wouldn't want to go to all the trouble if it was going to fail a few months down the line ....

Agreed - I was looking at using them to refurbish a set of AMG 17s, I won't bother if they don't resolve this for you Nav. After all, if they won't stand by their work for you (a repeat customer so I understand), what's to say that they will look after a new customer?

Even though I've not used them yet I've sent a few people their way after seeing the (so I thought..) quality of their work and recommendations on here.

Was going to get my old W124 8 holes redone and a set of alloys for my brother's MR2 along with a set for his friend. After reading this thread we have decided to find somewhere else.
Its one thing if the work is not upto an acceptable standard, but quite another when the company is unable to stand by their work and even make an attempt to fix it. Firstly they blame the fitter, and then to tell you they will charge you all over again to re-do the wheels is a joke in my opinion. If they did a crappy job in the first place, why would you give them another chance to take your money and muck it all up again? If this is how good repeat customers are treated, I dread to think what a first time customer would get

Does anybody know of a good refurbisher that lends you a spare set of wheels .Im based in Subiton in Surrey

Surbiton Tyre & Wheel are meant to be quite good - though not sure about having an exchange service. The nearest exchange agent for Pristine Wheels is Slough I think. I'm based in Surbiton too and have the same dilemma. The other alternative is to buy a cheap set of wheels and tyres on eBay and swap them over.

AVOID the Slough Pristine Dealer...!!!

I went in with a friend to have her alloys exchanged for a refurbed set and the idiots did not known anything about the wheel "exchange" or even have a catalogue and had to make a couple fo phone calls to just to confirm that they were Pristine dealers...

We did not bother doing any business with them...

Edit: This so called Pristine dealer is located on Farnham Road, Slough...

Yep i used BJV for my SEC lorinser alloys, the job was UTTER RUBBISH, they had just sprayed over old flakey paint..

This is when i got the idea of becoming an agent for pristine.. they do a MUCH MUCH better job..

Have they changed hands or been bought out or something?

The two brothers Andrew and ????..........used to sand blast back to metal and do an absolute A1 job - this smells of a takeover!

Thats becasue Pristine completely strip the alloy wheel (s) of the old paint back to bare metal and then propelry prepare/treat the alloy for the entire painting process. No doubt Pristine are good but not cheap.

Same guys! I will pop over next week as i'm busy this week. Both of them are still there, def no takeover. I rang in to complain and i was told its my fault for damaging the lacquer while putting the wheel bolts and i didn't clean the other ones properly!! How can you damage the lacquer on all the wheels?? Also its not much of a job if it gets damaged when putting wheel bolts in!! Also the original weels lasted 6 years, and have been removed on numerous occasions but no probs.

Baically i want them to redo these 2 sets of wheels FOC as i find its unnaceptable to pay £400 for 6-8 months use and under 2k!! Should have bought new ones

The only reason i posted this thread was the fact that i personally have recommended these chaps to numerous members on this forum. I don't have a personal grudge against them, just a problem with their workmanship and total lack in rectifying the situation. I should not have to pop round and argue with them, they should admit that after 6 months the wheels should not look like that!! Its a warning to other people on the forum that if they use this company in the future they are potentially going to have the same prolems as myself.

Never had a prob like that in all the years! They sandblast all their wheels and are powber coated or painted if powder coated. I've only seen/heard of probs with their diamond cut and sterling silver finishes.

It's a real let down - I liked knowing there was a reliable firm I had used before fairly close to me - in fact I am in their delivery/collection radius.

Now I will really have to think again.

No, i dealt with andy, no takeover...

Yep, the face was fine, but the holes and inside of the rim was def not sandblasted... I was not happy and when i picked them up and told them i would not be bringing any more to them...

I wish i had taken pics, but i sold the car now..

and to be honest, they are only a fraction cheaper than pristine...

Tell me about it. I liked the fact that they could be collected and delivered FOC! Just made refurbing easier. Also if you're lucky they normally loan you wheels as well! I'm hoping to rectify things with them amicably and see what their rectification job is like.

If you go for a standard painted finish then you should be ok but if you want a bright sterling silver/diamond cut finish i would look elsewhere.

Most modern MB OEM wheels are finished in Sterling Silver... ;)

Therefore most people would be better of avoiding these jokers "BJV"... :)
