BJV Wheel Refurbishment Beware!!

Lepsons are quoting £100 each + VAT for my wheels so I think I'll pass!

Give Keven a ring at Wicked Wheels.

Jaymanek put me onto this thread. Interesting.

I had my Golf VR6 wheels repainted by BJV last year. I sold the car this summer and the wheels were still perfect. Based on that experience and on an original recommendation from my Porsche-dealer neighbour, I too have been recommending BJV.

I had my W124 Coupé diamond-cut wheels redone by them in May. Three of them are fine; one had started flaking near the bolt holes. I took it back and they redid it without hesitation and free of charge. Andrew did make a point of saying that the diamond-cut finish is distinctly less durable and I said that I was aware of that, but thought three months was more than a bit too short to live with it. I also pointed out that I had refitted all the wheels myself using a socket wrapped in a rubber band with tape on top.

I'll see how it goes. If the redone wheel goes again (or another wheel goes), I'll experiment with Pristine in Woburn Sands, at appreciably higher cost. In the end, if the rate of deterioration is too fast, I might just go for paint finish.

I do recall that, when I bought the car at a mere four years old (and an even more mere 19k miles on the clock), all the original OEM wheels had started flaking, so the durability of the diamond-cut finish is a real issue.

Another source of possible interest to those in the Herts area is the mobile service I found working at Harpenden MB main dealers yesterday:

Wheels Direct

Has anyone used him?

We haven't found anyone better than Kevin..

Are your wheels not OEM finish then? OR is it just some that you refurb?
