Hi all. Haven't posted on here for all car had been running with no major faults. However due to the recent heavy rains I noticed a puddle of water behind the passenger seat in the rear footwell. There's no water anywhere else just in that area. Does anyone know possible areas of where the water could've come in from?

Hi buddy, good to see you back again.

I take it all the drain holes are clear in the valances/sills.

I'm not 100% sure on the CE, but on some models the drain below the wiper assembly becomes blocked and when this happens the water ends up finding its way to the O/S rear footwell.

Rear screen seal is prone to leaking in corners --really needs removing and re-fitting with new seal.

I have the same problem with my c220 cdi estate. Water in rear passenger footwell driver side only after recent rains - can't find the leak

That will be the drain below the wiper assy that needs unblocking.

Thanks
Any tips as to what needs unblocking and where to look. Total usless novice me

I'll post some picture of how to dismantle later. Not a big job, really. 8no Phillips screws, 2no plastic nuts and some wiggling and jiggling.

Thanks all I will check the drain holes and let you guys know!

Start by removing the trims next to the glass.
Insert a screwdriver as shown and then to remove, push up the trims as though to slide up the screen (when replacing, slide down and keep pushed flush to the screen).
You will realise how they are meant to sit. Nothing but the clips shown and those next to the screen holds them in place.

After removing the two trims, you will see the 8no screws (all the same length on the C-Class) and the two plastic nuts that hold the large one-piece panel in place.
Remove the large one-piece panel to reveal what is shown in the picture below.

The drain is on the O/S and is the ribbed/fluted area indicted by the white arrow.

The cowl below the wiper can be slid out for easier access.

Dig out as much of the usually soil/seeds as you can and then get something like a stainless steel ruler (or kitchen spatula) and poke the drain hole until you feel it clear.

Set a hosepipe running on the windscreen and if the drain is clear, the water will exit to the N/S.

It's a good idea to take a picture of each step to refer to.

I don't have the torque settings for the 8no screws, but don't over-tighten them because the large one-piece cover is in contact with the bottom of the windscreen, so be careful.

If you have difficulty removing the large trim or gaining poking access to the drain, flip the bonnet to the upright position.

Sounds like a Chastity Belt!
