Traffic light GP and we were even up until about 35mph (major wheelspin on my part :D ), then from 40mph the gap got bigger and bigger until we got to about 65ish, then the race ended at the round about.

First real race anyone has given me since buying the thing!! :p

Now the new M5 would be interesting...

:D pick on someone your own size :D

Yes, by about three car lenghts by 65 :D :D

nice one! What was the distance between the lights and the roundabout?

Bet that has ruined his entire day. Muwahahahahaha...... :D

The M3 probably didnt realise what he was up against. He may have thought "ha just some bloke in a lardy big Merc, I'll show him".

Would have loved to have seen his face as he couldnt keep up and then the realisation of what he'd taken on as the AMG badge on the REAR of Maff's car came into clear view.

I bet he doesnt tell his mates in the pub

M3 Drivers version of the story:

Was cruising next to a CL55 today checking out his 'BLING' wheels when i decided to pull up closer and check to see if it was a chick driving. Damn man... as i started to gain some speed i was getting smoked!! In all the confusion i lost myself in 3rd gear by which time he/ she was well and truly long gone. Maybe i need a merc next time  .. must make a note in diary NOT to mention this at the next boy racers meeting :D

:bannana:  :bannana:

About 1/2 mile I guess.

Hmmmmm half a mile to get to 65... were you both using reverse gear? :D

I believe the new M5 is a full second quicker to 100kmh than the CL AMG ! Sorry, just stirring the pot.

I think you mean to 100mph.

0-100kmh is about 0.1 second quicker in the new M5 I believe :)

I'm always willing to try :D :D :D

MB normally under rate the performance figures of their cars for some reason - I'm sure the CL55 would at the evry least least keep up with the M5 (the element of surprise with Maff's is that it ic capable of 200MPH after being derestricted which no one else (apartv from us know...) and will probably shock other drivers.

Sure with the MB underating, as with most independent tests normally see between 0.3 to a full 1 second faster compared to the 'official' figures...but I think BMW figures are most of the time spot on...if not 'overestimated'.....Just goes to show how much MB values performance compared to BMW which is btw performance oriented cars.

I have out burned M3's not by such a margin with my little CLK500 up to the 155 limiter or 162 indicated on foreign motorways... :D

Mercedes do indeed estimate performance differently from others…:)

I'm willing to bet anyone here £100 it cant do a true 200mph.
