Clockwise IIRC ..
Lots of WD40 and wiggling should do the trick ... don't snap the key.
I think that the boot locks when the roof is retracting / jammed so that you don't catch the leading edges of the boot on the painted cover flap . So you may find that the boot lock isn't jammed , but actually locked ...
Can you gently apply pressure to the hood ( maybe with two people pushing down , one on each side ) to encourage it to go down and then you can lock the cover flap in place ?
Is the light in the hood button by the gearstick flashing ? Is it possible that you have overheated the pump ( possible ) .... give it some time to cool down.
Just looking in the CLK manual it says that the roof can be LIFTED manually by two people , try doing this , lock it in the closed position and then the boot should release ...
From the manual ..
1) Apply parking brake
2) Lower side windows and rollover bar
3) If rollover bar cannot be lowered gently lift soft top over it
It does state that you MUST NOT hold the soft top by the side bars when lifting , but rather to apply lift / pressure from the piece that locks onto the windscreen surround.
If you have a manual , it is page 322 onwards
