wow, thanks for the heads up! Should one perhaps replace this plastic bit then?
Really cool to hear that you owned an S72, how did it compare to your S600?
I'd definitely recommend changing the plastic connector the first time you change the coolant. There are quite a few threads on this topic in the w140 section of benzworld.
I sold the S72 as the garage I bougth it off offered me a nice uplift to buy it back, and it was too nice to use as a daily hack in all honesty.
Strangely I didn't notice too much difference to the standard S600 which is plenty powerful enough for me. But I drive like a granny anyway. In many ways I prefer the S600 as the suspension is softer and with the standard 16" wheels it's much more comfortable....it just doesnt look anywhere near as good as the AMG spec car.
I also think you're S70 will at least retain its value, and probably go up in value, whereas a standard car won't. Such is life.
I could be wrong, but I think all the AMG W140s had the individual rear seats. At least, all the Japanese spec ones I've seen had them fitted, along with the small fridge behind the rear arm rest.
Be sure to check the timing cover oil seals though. They tend to seep oil all over the alternator and AC compressor if not attended too. Not too bad as a DIY and is a good opportunity to clean up the air intake and throttle bodies.
