Brand New Series of Wheeler Dealers

Why are people on about labour costs? There doing it themselves, just like if you sorted ya own car out yourself, there are no bloody labour costs.

Its a good show.

Repetition: :^)

This show is about showing your average home mechanic what can be achieved in a reasonably kitted out home garage. So no labour costs - unless: As they say you need to involve a specialist garage.

So on my 124 4-Matic. My labour costs are all on the gearbox rebuild, bare metal paint job etc. As per Wheeler Dealers I do what I can myself.

TV revenue stream

Brewer & China, total pap !!! never puts all the x's on like travel costs, advertising costs, etc, good tv, but very poor business model, making a decent living from car trading is not as easy as some would have you believe:D

They don't add in the profit the TV series makes either.

I follow Mike Brewer on twitter, i am sure there is a W126 or c126 560/500SEC coming up soon.

Cant wait

Just watched the Moggy thou traveller episode - really good job I thought albeit not a 100% concourse restoration but that isn't what the show is about. There doesn't seem to be that much that Edd can't tackle. Noticed on the adverts that Mike was looking at, that travellers are being advertised at £18000! Doesn't seem that long ago since I bought a restored one for £800.

Great show, only really want to watch ed so his magic!

I'd love to see the gentle giant Ed deliver Mr Brewer a right, left right combo, and hopefully this will teach Mr B a few manners. :D

First episode tonight and I'm watching having recorded it.

First car is a USA spec 560SL.

Nice opening to the show where Ed makes a point that Mike only likes him as "he works for Free".

It is all scripted people, it is not real! The dialogue is for entertainment purposes only, hence why Ed gets it in the neck every episode

This is heresy, like saying that Father Christmas doesn't exist.

Watched the SL560 show last evening, and for the first time that I've seen, they specified that it had taken 44 hours labour to do what Ed did - which would knock a major hole in their $7000 "profit".

I enjoyed it. Plenty of mechanics and that injector spray pattern tester was simple but effective. The only let down left on the vehicle was the aftermarket radio.

44 man hours quoted still works out at getting paid over £110 p/h, not bad even if they split it

I will probably watch this new series, I always do. I don't however, particularly like the American based programmes. At least they are doing some euro cars though.

so i am correct is saying that the USA 560SL has less power than the Euro 500SL? If so putting a Euro spec 560 V8 with similar power to to the w126 would bring it north of 280bhp?

They always have less power for the same capacity over there as their petrol is pants, like 85 octane. Ours is 95 minimum.

Agreed. And the steering wheel looked a bit worn, and im sure I saw loads of marks on the wheel arches where they'd removed the chrome, on the shots of it on the beach.

Just watched the new series, makes me want to go to the usa for a hold but my fears of flight stop me.

As another said, first time they talked about labour costs.

Nice car, nice work but as another said, the ott radio stuck out like a sore thumb.

I am hooked on car shows, so will watch all - I try and avoid the adverts so record and watch when I'm at home on leave.

I'm sure it's the first time they mentioned the mileage too, and on numerous occasions

Much of the reduced power was to do with emission restrictions.

A Euro spec 560 engine was close to 300hp standard.
