Ahh but the British ones buy their fuel on the continent because its cheaper thus 'paying' their way in those countries.
Our roads are awash with HGV's from eastern europe which drive over here for upto two weeks on a tank full of fuel obtained outside this country, undercutting UK haulage firms. Exactly what are they putting into our economy? More to the point what are they taking out of it?
Buying foreign fuel means you are saving yourself money not paying your way in those countries
Eddie stobart registers most of his fleet in belgium. Blame the british government for its unfair taxation laws and not the foreign truck drivers.
it is called international trade .The trucks coming here are bringing in goods not sightseeing. In our industry(where i work), if not for goods sourced from europe, germany in particular, brought by german trucks, you will be paying over the odds for finished products or some staff would be made redundant.
If the fuel is cheaper on the continent then ask gordon brown why it is
I dont hear you complaining when forum members go to france and spain for cheap fags and booze on a small scale so why can't industries do so on a larger scale.
And if foreign drivers who are going back to europe buy more expensive fuel here instead of trickling over and buying cheap abroad ,then they need their heads re-examining.
It is the british government that is undermining the haulage industry and not foreign drivers.
Talk about paranoia and blame all the johnny foreigners for every thing.
