Burgled

Does that mean they've caught the perps?

edit: why did I say 'perps', i meant scum.

Just seen this John. Great news fella. Let's hope that's all your bad luck over with.

Ant.

"perps" ???????????????????

too much L A Law, Cagney and Lacey or NYPD Blue there I suspect

It is an English word, not an Americanism. Short for perpetrator, 'the one who did it'. I just edited as I don't know why I used a nondescript term, hiding how I feel about them, like someone who has to remain unbiased would. :thumb:

I wouldn't watch any American dramas and haven't seen any you mentioned.

I'm guessing a crowbar being a more offensive weapon, although we'd do the same job with it (violence wise)

Me and friends used to play a lot of baseball years ago in the summer, one of them lost the ball one night and I ripped my glove so it was just the bat in the boot that night on the way home. Plod ended up pulling me over and gave me a right rollicking for having a baseball bat in the car, before I could even speak a defence he said 'it's not like you have a glove and ball in there to go with the bat is it, no, so what's it doing in there'

Friend used to run a market stall and things could get rough late at night so that in the end he kept a baseball bat behind the stall. Spotted by the local constabulary he was told in no uncertain terms that he was not allowed to keep the bat there unless of course he had a ball and glove kept with it. Advice followed.

The Sopranos was excellent.

Burgled Again!!!

Well its not even 4 months since I was burgled... so just going to bed Thu night when theres a load crash downstairs, the wife is downstairs and starts shouting so run downstairs to see her get knocked to the floor by the first of 3 guys in balaclavas shouting where are the keys...
Now common sense says I should have just handed the keys over... but my wife has just been knocked to the floor so instead go into beserker mode and charge the guys throwing punches and screaming blue murder, they back up towards the patio doors that they smashed thro... so grab a dining room chair and start swinging that... the heroes are now confused and back up into garden, giving me chance to dodge into kitchen and grab the carving knifes... they start to come back in, see the knifes and think better of it.
Common sense fails me again I chase them out to the getaway cars but they speed off. Lucky for me as I would have ended up charged with manslaughter if I had caught one.
Much as I like the S4 if its the car or my families safety the car goes
So now going looking at a C300h

Absolutely shocking John - words fail me .

Wow

Sorry about this.

I know how it feels to be home invaded. When I lived abroad, I was home invaded 3 times in 6 months by men armed with AKs and you just dont get over it.

Do you live someplace isolated?

Wow, fair play for standing your ground , i would certainly recommend cctv or a dog

Unbelievable!
Hope your wife is ok, good on you for fighting back.
I hope this is the last you see of those scumbags.

Holy crap, I'm amazed by this! Glad you're all ok, but this is bound to leave some unpleasant feelings.

Where do you live btw?

What did the police say?

Where do you live btw?

That was my first thought. Keep the S4 and move to a safer area.

Glad you and the missus escaped unscathed and fair play for fighting back. It went well for you this time but on another day who knows.
CCTV and alarms appear a must in your postcode:D

John,

I'm so sickened to read this. What an awful experience for you all. Well done for preventing what could have been a tragic injury for you wife.

Thank goodness it ended well but as others have said, not sure how you'll ever be able to relax in that house again.

Incidentally a C300h is still a fairly desireable car. Take every step you can to reduce the chances of a repeat.

Take care fella, Ant.
