Burgled

We moved up to Scotland from Denton 10 years ago.

I visited my parents back in Denton yesterday to help them move house. I must say, each time I go back there I hear worsening stories. So glad we moved when we did.

Anyhow, as already said, great news that no one was hurt.

Take care John.

Ant.

Thats a possible, the wife does not feel safe here anymore, the CCTV is due to be installed, the Alarm was not on as we were still up it was 11pm
also getting a quote for laminated glass to downstairs doors /windows.

CCTV will be of little use for either deterrent or detection purposes.

Those involved were clearly very brazen and would not have been put off by a camera or two - they were wearing balaclavas after all. And any footage would be unlikely to help the police since it would just show three blokes with their faces completely covered.

I know but it might help make my wife feel a bit safer...until we move!:thumb:

This will be the first time she does not complain that I've changed my car :D

Sorry to hear this John, sod the car - get rid, and I hope (in fact I'm sure) your wife will come out of this ok.

All the best and don't let the *******s grind you down.

I know the clowns might take a fancy to that as well but going to keep living my life Fcuk em! :D

Tasers, Pepper sprays and the like are all very well, but you have to think the consequences through..
Even if youi incapacitate them with a few thousand volts, they will still be alive and will know who you are and where you live.

Due to the up-ended justice system in this country, they'll be free to pay you aother visit in no time.

The only effective way to avoid repeat visits is to make sure they don't get out, once they've come in.. I think you can see where I'm going with this....

I mean, they're unlikely to tell their wives/girlfriends "I'm gouing out burglarising and I'll be at number 23 till about 12:30, then at number 30 from 12:45 till about 13:15, then........

So, basically NO ONE knows where they are, or if they're likely to come back...

Who would miss them anyway?

John

This is just shocking. I feel for you and of course for your good lady. A very, very traumatic experience indeed. Our thoughts and best wishes to you and yours. I truly that hope that you both make a speedy recovery.

I'm not sure that your suggestion of murdering three violent criminals, trying to find some way of disposing of the bodies and then living the rest your life worrying about the consequences of your actions is entirely helpful.

PaulG will be fine, you see, he employs the police.

Well noted!

But the Police can have some much-needed time-off.. They needn't trouble themselves to come out in this instance, it will all be taken care of.

I need a new patio anyway.

 I know they are complete scum but much as I would like to beat them to within an inch of their lives... that's as far as I would go

Thanks Bruce.... think I need 2 Siberian huskies!

Couple of RIF HK G36C airsoft rifles would see them out!

Side note, have always wondered if they could be used in self defence, being RIF's- meaning meant to be kept in cases and a license held. But on the other side of the coin, using in self defence in this situation without needing to actually fire them, how's the burglar to know if they're real or not?

...how's the burglar to know if they're real or not?
Tempting as it may be, ISTR that using something that looks like a firearm, even if it isn't, to scare another person can attract a fairly stiff sentence, so is probably unwise.

I think the main thing is not to shoot them in the back whilst they are running away .

On a more practical note , some sort of booby trap in the car , allowing them to go maybe half a mile before it cuts out , locks the doors trapping them inside and perhaps releasing some sort of knockout gas to incapacitate them until the police arrive , might work .

If the above is too fanciful , fit a tracker , hand over the keys if they come back , then phone the police the minute they're gone .

Most importantly , just give them the car , knowing they won't get far with it , and without risk to you and yours .

Well its not even 4 months since I was burgled...

Commiserations, John on the frightening experience. There is some significance in the four month period.

I have been burgled four times in my life. The second and fourth events were within four months of the first and third - time enough, as the police pointed out, to complete the insurance claim and replace the stolen items.
