C124 220 No Reserve

i am no expert but as the sheet states there was no code for it, kinda makes sense that it was special order

as i said, nice car, good luck with sale :thumb:

No IMHO it does not make sense.
The most likely explanation for the interior of this car is that the seats and door cards have been retrimmed in leather.
My proof is as follows
here is a photo of a cloth interior

Note that the door panels are flat and that the seat panels exactly match the panels of the Coupe we are discussing.
Now here is a photo of a car with leather interior/seats.

Note how the door cards are ruffled and the panels of the seats are completely different to the Coupe we are discussing. This was how cars came from the factory when equipped with leather. Even if you went special order leather the seats and door cards came the same as the black leather car above. I know this for a fact as I went through the whole process in 1994 when I ordered a special custom paint E320T with special leather interior. The other giveaway is that Mercedes did not do blue piping as an option at that time.
Does all this make any difference into the saleability of the car - not really IMHO - it looks like a nice Azurite Blue (paint code 366) with mushroom leather interior in nice condition

To me the leather looks to be the pattern fitted to the very early cars - late 80s/early nineties. Its probably had the seats fitted from an earlier car.

I love these threads!

With the greatest respect....does it really matter? Should we be quizzing it quite so much?

This forum is an amazing wealth of knowledge and I had a great, quick answer to a question from a member today. However, its a W124 that's not worth a great deal and will never be worth a great deal...with or without the correct interior. It looks like a great buy and I'd be interested if I had the spare cash.

I think sometimes we all (me included) get a bit hung up on the smallest details, that actually have no real significance to the cars value at this level. If it was a 300SL Gullwing, then maybe, but it seems that most of the R129 / W124 crowd on here (again me included) drive sub £10000 cars.

It has seats, they look lovely, they fit with the car and make it more interesting.....someone buy it and enjoy it!

Right....best get back to polishing my R129 original first aid kit.... ;-)

I don't think so - here is a photo of an early W124 with leather.

but as I said earlier IMHO none of this detracts from the fact that it looks like a nice car.

I stand corrected.
Agreed its a nice car with very high spec for a 220 and the seller has given a very honest description.
