C240T Manifold Crack

TV, That's a new one on me, please explain.

This is a process invented my metal lock. and we used it to put RR heads back together again when pieces of the cast iron have broken right off.

A hole is drilled and tapped in the center of the crack, tapped, then a screw inserted, this is cut off and another hole drilled ½ way through the last screw and tapped and screwed, and so on along the whole length of the crack.

The Head on my RR stayed water tight and perfect for the 15 years that I was able to drive the car.

Not sure if the manifold on your 240 is the same type of construction as that used on a 200K, but I recently had a 200K that had a cracked manifold (common) and you cant weld them as they have a double skin...cost of replacement+ fitting was an eye-watering £540.

If you undo the exhaust pipes at the first joint, undo the engine mounts and lift the engine approx 2 inches, you can move the engine sideways enough to get at the back bolts. Take the advice above, but be warned. Do Not Shere any Studs as it will be a hard job made harder. Plenty of penetrating oil and good tools.
