As it says really, I would like to know what the real world mpg is for this car with and auto box fitted.

Also what are they like to drive? the one I'm looking at is a 1998 model estate.

Simon

The best I've ever had was 40mpg on a run to Brooklands and back @ 80-85mph, but mine isn't standard. I get anywhere between 27 and 29mpg with urban driving. When I'm not urban driving though I do tend to have a lead foot

They are slow in the standard form. MPG isn't brilliant stock either, 300 miles of urban driving per tank and 400 motorway miles. but bear in mind my urban driving is mainly traffic free. The most i see out of the car is 425-450 if you take it easy, the worst is 280 that included hard town driving and sppeds in excess of 120mph on the motorway. When i refill i put in 50 litres, so this can give you an average.

My car has got better on fuel since i had a Superchip fitted, removed the car and installed a larger bore diameter exhaust from the manifold back; i have been told these help to spool the turbos up quicker. I also run a k&N air filter, don't know if it adds power but certainly adds a more aggresive note.

ive just recently bought my c250 and use it for the work commute (derby to leicester)

im getting around 150-170 miles out of £20

havent brimmed it yet

I get 38 locally and 44 on a decent run, they drive well but suffer from a slow take off unless chipped.

Thanks guys.

A couple more questions...!

Whats the best chip to go for?
What are these engines like at high mileages?

This one is high.....

Mileage isn't a problem if its been serviced regurarly. I've seen loads with over 200k on original engines and box.

I went for a Superchip.

I went for an Upsolute powerchip from Simon Coe at CCC Technology. They are cheaper than other superchips but I cannot comment on it against other tuning devices because I've not tried others. I have to say I am pleased with it though.

1999 C250TD estate. 158k. 37mpg around town. 56mpg touring the Scottish Highlands (no motorway) speeds generally 50-60 mph. Most economical car I've ever had. Not chipped and I'm happy with acceleration from 60mph.

mines a standard car with an autobox and get 400-420 to a tank .does chipping them make much difference and can anyone fit them

I had a C250TD auto for about 3 years. Was disapointed to say the least with the MPG. I was getting 28-32 depending on conditions etc. Best I ever got was 40. Got rid of it and got 4x4 and that knocks spots off the MPG I got with the C250. I also agree with other posters that they a very slow getting off the mark

The MPG probably improves as the car get considerably lighter as the tailgate rusts away....

:(

I get a regular 32mpg commuting and 40 on a long run, its a heavy car after all until it rots away like Swiss Toni says!
I just had a quote for my rust...all four arches, tailgate and several large blisters with loads of 'stars' under the paintwork at just eight years old.
£3000+vat to do it right.

Drive into a large puddle next time there is a flood! ;)
Or at the very least park it near a river.....

I'm gonna go for this too when I have some funds saved up. :bannana: Does this upgrade really make that much of a difference when taking off from stand still? If so I am sold! :thumb:

I get 410miles full tank 55 liters
