c270
Hi guys, my mother is looking for a new car, and she really likes mercs ☺ so I went with her to view a 2002 avantgarde c270 estate today and it was blowing blue smoke when revved. Not black or white just blue, when first started from cold it idled quite rough but settled down when warmed up.
No real noise from the turbo but it must be burning oil somewhere! It did it every time it was revved.
On the test drive I could not see any when accelerating hard through the rear view mirror.
Is there anything obvious or could be? I thought these engines were bullet proof; the mileage is only 127k with mostly mb dealer history and 2 owners, so it's been looked after is the any common faults to look for on it?
I am handy with the spanners and my mum really likes the car but blowing blue smoke I know is not a good sign.
Any help would be greatly appreciated ☺
Thanks Regards
Steve

That was my first thought, anyone know how much a replacement would be? Is it an easy job on these? There doesn't look much room under the bonnet. ...

Valve stem oil seals if it's happening when cold or sitting for a while!!!

I`ve done a turbo on one of these, not too bad job wise.Running rough from cold-injectors,injector seals.Take the engine cover off and see if there is any solid black build up around injectors.

Mother decided she wanted a ml320 instead ☺so thanks guys, at least I don't have the headache of sorting it out.
