C350e anyone considering one?

I placed the order for mine on Friday, have been given end of March as a delivery date. :-)

Are there any others interested in March delivery slots? I may be able to put them in touch with a dealer who has some. Drop me a PM with your email and I can introduce you if it makes sense.

(I'll check with the dealer tomorrow on what's available and update).

Well Done! Better even than mine. Ordered on 7th Jan and due on 7th April. I console myself that it will have "16" registration plate.

BTW, what are the thoughts on the value of the upgrade option to "LED Intelligent Lighting System"? Apparently this makes adjusting to continental RH dipping controllable by the driver as well as shining around corners. Otherwise the dipping change can be done in the garage by a mechanic with a screwdriver.

They are amazing; if you can, I would strongly suggest going for them. The difference to xenons, which are generally good anyway, is quite noticeable.

Having had steering and auto dipping Xenon lights for a number of years on a BMW the C300h standard LED lights are brighter and I don't miss the auto dip as it was always a second delayed to when I would have done it myself, but I do notice the lack of steering lights on tight bends.

I posted about an interesting NHS Lease (Well, lease and government grant) issue due to the time of ordering earlier today - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/2235827-post63.html

Not sure if you were affected etc, but worth a read if yours seemed a bit on the expensive side?

If not - enjoy the car - not long now at all!!!

Hi mate. Mine is in the lower end of the scale you had in the link. Works out cheaper than the Honda civic I currently have. Glad you got sorted in the end. Sounds like that could have been unnecessarily expensive!!

yeah - mines in the mid range now, and quite amazed at that price, considering the value, the Grant is doing its thing now!

Yeah twas an experience, but very greatful it is resolved. Nothing worse then feeling angst against a car company then having to drive their cars after!! :P

Has anyone considered how the BMW 330e compares to the Mercedes C350e? Any thoughts on the matter would be interesting, I feel...

I did look at the 330e as an alternative but as a company car driver the BiK won hands down for me.

Clearly the 330e would offer a more involving drive and better all round performance but in for all other aspects, cabin quality, specification and cutting edge technologies the C350e definitely has the edge.

And preheat, let's not forget preheat :)

Update, the garage think they've found the problem. Corrosion in the charge port of the car and down through the cable. Also faulty charge control module, possibly also due to the corrosion.
Part ordered, new charge socket, cabling and module. Nil stock in Mercedes, unknown how long it will take to get said parts!
Good news I think that it appears they've worked out what the problem is, not so good that the electrics are corroding after 6 weeks!!
So, after the good news that Mercedes have apparently found the fault, now the bad news. Parts (Charger socket, cabling for the car and charge control module) are on nil stock. They're expected into Germany 3rd Feb, add a few days to get them to the UK and then a few days to fix it it's expected back to me mid-Feb. This would be approx. 6 weeks after I left it with the garage to investigate / repair. This is somewhat later than I expected and I am really not happy with Mercedes now.

But... I'm away mid Feb to late Feb. Any delay to the parts (and the dealer advised there could well be) means I won't have the car when I need it and it will be late Feb before I get it back - getting on for 2 months after I left it to be repaired.

After what seems like an interminable wait and within a few days of anticipated delivery I have the following update from Lex :

From 2016-01-28 to 2016-02-05-Delay in movement from factory to dealership

Only been waiting since 25th May.

That's shocking.

Dont mean to upset anyone waiting for theirs, but surely the answer would be for MERC to delay x number of cars and use them parts for existing customers. (maybe have a system where it affects dealer demo cars)

Is the car still drivable though JP?

My lack of ability to externally charge hasn't stopped my enjoyment of the vehicle as I am E-Saving on motorways meaning I always have a full HV battery when I get home so I can preheat etc.

Obviously MPG is affected but given that this is pretty dire anyway it's not the end of the world.

My vehicle goes in 8th Feb to have the charge fault identified and I'll be sure to tell them that I want my car back if parts need ordering on a long delivery.

Ice on charger

We had our first sub zero night on Monday. When I went to disconnect the charging cable it took quite a tug to remove - putting de-icer on probably wouldn't be a good idea so if it does freeze in the socket how can you drive away ? Thoughts welcomed on safely de-icing an electrical socket !

Wow quick delivery, did you get a cancelled build slot?

No I was offered May delivery by the lease company but the dealer I test drove at had an unallocated order and said end of March and I was able to specify what I wanted. Well happy.

Does anyone know if the C350e comes with or can be specified with Homelink or another garage door opener, please?
