C350e anyone considering one?

Due my C350e prem plus saloon at the end of March. It replaces an A5 2.0 tfsi black edition quattro which is a company car.

Couple of questions if anyone can help?

I have a company fuel card and pay for private fuel (0.14p per mile) which includes my commute to and from work. If I charge the car at home using my electricity and can get to work on electric only do I have to log these miles as private? Or can I claim for the electricity used?

Second question...I have ordered a tow bar and fancy a caravan in the near future does anyone have experience in the c350e towing if not the c350e then a c class?

Cheers

I've finally made up my mind and placed my 350e order based in part on this forum so thank you everyone who contribution to discussions.

Well done; I'll wait with you; it feels interminable and mine is due 7th April. It should go to build in about three weeks after which I can't change anything. Then I'll feel that it really is going to happen.

Waiting times have reduced significantly from last year. I had an 8 month wait. Glad to see that production seems to have been ramped up. Mine arrives next Tuesday.

I one week I am sitting in a bar in Stuttgart waiting to pick up my own.
A have a sneaky suspicion I will have some fun driving up the autobahn on the way home.
Hopefully they have started the production of the new E series, so I can see that with my own eyes on the tour. Been driving all kinds of cars lately, and the c350e as well.
I just love the smell of leather in the morning! :)

Hi, have just ordered Estate version in white - no delivery date notified as yet, car ordered through Lex

I do have a question regarding the battery in the boot. Does anyone know if it gets warm or hot? When we go away the dog goes in the back so a warm battery could cause problems!

Thanks and thanks for the great advice on this forum

Not a problem at all.

Wow! I hadn't thought of that; what about the wine I'm going to fill the luggage space with when I come back from France?

Seriously though, the battery is water-cooled and as Snowman says it should be fine; but we'll have to take his word for that for now.

There will be some heat, but noting you would notice.
Keep in mind Tesla runs like 75-90 kwh just fine.
Cold weather is the worst actually.
And some where along the line it will be some kind of ventilation to get gas from charging out if it occurs.
You find loads of info on how and why to pre heat the battery’s though.

Hi all. Eagerly awaiting delivery of my c350e. Ordered in June and have a vague delivery date of "early January" from NHS fleet car solutions. They promise me their predicted dates are usually accurate.... I will believe it when I have the keys.

I have ordered an estate in tenorite grey. Anyone else with this colour mind putting some photos up? Half regret the colour choice as the brilliant blue looks..... Er..... Brilliant!

have you received yours now? min was ordered in mid to late june and is being delivered a week tomorrow. I was given an early Feb 2016 delivery slot which has turned out to be spot on.

Hi. Mine is due to be delivered on Wednesday. Not too far out with the estimate of early Jan, which was changed to mid Jan at the end of the first week of the month. Just had to wait a week for a delivery slot so not too bad at all.

Having a rolec charge point fitted next Monday. The installation partner, EV charging solutions, had me send images of where I wanted it installed, the earth bonding, and fuse board, in order to estimate any additional costs. I have had acknowledgment they have received my images, and a "all looks OK", but no word of any additional charges. I'm really hoping that means there aren't any. Particularly as, looking at what they charge extra for (earth bonding, additional fuse board, more than 15m cabling), mine should be a cinch to install!

Fingers crossed!

Trying to get excited about delivery.... It's been such a wait I think I have numbed out!

Finally arranged delivery for Friday after waiting patiently since June. The finish line is within sight

Hello There,

I have had my C350e since December 9th defecting from BMW330d and on the whole I am very happy with the car.

The EV range is in the real world around 8 miles max (13 showing on dash), even when taking it gently and dont expect to even ever see the pack capacity go anywhere near the stated 19miles before you even start. It would be nice to have a little more honesty from MB on this matter

On a run at motorway speeds I get between 40 and 45 mpg which I am happy with especially given the low BIK tax.

I test drove a V60 D6 PHEV just before I ordered the C350e. Very nice it was too. It alleges around 30 or so miles on a full charge, which can take as long as 7.5 hours. Picked it up from the dealer, and drove it (in pure electric) about 4.5 miles to the motorway where it said that the battery had depleted and then switched to hybrid. I agree that a 'real world' figure would be more helpful. Its nice to see though that people are getting 14-15 or so miles out of the C350e in electric mode. For me personally I'll be hoping to use it in the main as a hybrid, with maybe just the odd trip into town with the kids on a saturday. Two thirds of my 22mile commute is motorway, so If i can get around 50 mpg or so I'll be more than happy. Thats what I get currently out of my Honda civic. Massive difference in refinement and power though.

Delivery

I just got "the" call from the fleet team saying mine will be arriving Monday!!

Interesting comment from them was "The Brilliant Blue looks amazing we've all had a look at it, but it's now impossible to get and they are advising people to change their colour selections and not taking orders for Brilliant Blue!"

So chuffed I got my order in early :)

In addition to other answers - the battery does not create any heat that will be noticeable in the car. Lithium Ion batteries are 'sealed' and they will not give off any gas unless suffering from a catastrophic failure such as thermal runaway - the charge electronics and software will not allow this to happen. For those of you with the saloon - there is a huge void under the boot mat which houses the high voltage battery and the normal 12volt battery. I have made a hinged flap in the fibreboard at the back/left of the boot which gives access to some useful storage space for soft items.

has anyone been able to get more than 15 miles from pure electric running yet

not on pure ev from start, only when on a long run in hybrid mode and then i get roughly 50/50 split between ice and ev

To be fair it is a big ask at the moment as lights heater etc are all on, have noticed turning things off does make a difference, as does outside temperature (if only I knew what that was, roll on the update)

Most I have seen on the range is 16 got about 11 if memory serves be correctly
