C350e anyone considering one?

Ten miles on the motorway would not be a great use of electric power. You could experiment with E-Saving those miles and save the electric for suburbia.

Yeah trying to work out the e-save using the nav function, see if that helps, to be fair the first day I tried it it did do 70 on the motorway on electric? I thought it was 60mph top speed for electric? Either way I will play about with it to see what the most effective way is. Loads of good info on here though.

I've had mine up to "motorway speeds" on electric, but it seemed to use a lot of power to do it. I have one stretch of motorway on my commute and I select E-Save from the left hand button on the centre console (hidden by the touchpad) and do that bit on petrol.

Worth trying.

I find that you controlling the modes....E-SAVE, HYBRID, E-MODE can actually be better than the car, I gave up with using the sat-nav but suspect the comand sat nav might be better at helping fuel economy?

I have a 19.5 mile commute and depending on weather and traffic conditions (and if I decide a bit of Sport+ is due....) I manage 90 - 140mpg equivalent on a full charge so you do use some fuel but id' say a commute of 10-20 miles is still ideal for owners of this car.

19 mile range is achievable.

How?

1) Driving downhill for most of your 19 miles :)
2) Driving on a flat road with no hills for most of your 19 miles with a strong wind at your back.
3) Driving at around 20 to 30mph constant speed for most of your 19 miles with green lights all the way.

I get around 13 to 14 miles on mine around the Coventry/Warwickshire area and that's with careful driving. If I drive without keeping an eye on what I'm doing I get about 10 to 12 miles.

Also that 19 miles can be shown by resetting your trip computer. It's only temporary. Once you make your next journey it changes to whatever you managed to achieve on that next run.

I've found I can gradually increase the amount 'saved' by switching modes.
So lets say I select E-Save at 25%. I drive as normal and eventually the battery charge will increase above that level. Lets say it reaches 28%. I cycle through all the modes until I get to E-Save again and now it will save the 28%. Then when it gets to 30% I do it again and so on. A bit of a hassle but I find doing that increases the battery charge slowly without impacting on my MPG as much as E-Charge does.

Eco engine node also charges the battery more than comfort and does regenerative braking for you. I use individual/custom mode though as eco suspension is hard and I thought I liked the haptic but it grew annoying.

Got my 350e a and i love it.... It is more like piloting the car than driving for the first week.

What I am interested in, is the performance (I guess we all are).. Is there a mode which will enable the car to slip between elec / petrol to provide the most efficient use of energy / fuel?

Rather than using all the elec, then petrol, or using the petrol then relying on me to switch.

Sorry if this sounds an obvious question to you peeps who have been driving this for a while - but your help / info would be really appreciated.

For journeys of up to say 10 miles I use E-MODE providing I can then charge, for general journeys use HYBRID, if you're doing a long journey and you know it well enough to know where electric would be best you can use E-SAVE and HYBRID where you switch between the modes.

The sat nav being programmed with your destination also helps with adjusting electric/engine use.

The car does tend to try and use electric first unless you are going >60mph. I find if you are going on <20 mile journeys in urban areas with charging at either end you can leave it in the default C - Hybrid setting. Longer than that I use Eco (switching to Sport if I need the pace) again in Hybrid. I occasionally switch to E Mode to squeeze an extra mile or two out of electric. I also like Eco mode's use of regen braking and the haptic throttle if I am just driving in the rush hour.

It comes up on the screen as "Comfort" on mine.
:dk:

You get Comfort suspension in comfort and Eco suspension in eco don't you?

I will try it tonight and report back.
It doesn't make sense to change the suspension settings for eco use does it?

You know what? I think you're right. It did feel more lumpy in Eco.
Why??
