C350e anyone considering one?

Ecotricity used to be free, but now they charge unless you are an Ecotricity customer for your home electrics.

If you are doing big motorway miles, charging a 350e every time you stop for a cuppa or a pee isn't going to be worth the hassle. Overnight charge at home is going to be your best bet and then see how you go.

Yeah thats my plan most of the time, just thought it would be decent to chuck a quick charge in it when stopped for a brew. Signed up to chargemaster (Polar) to use local points near my place of work.

Depending where you are in the country ...

I use Source London a lot ... means I can charge at my work end and get home nearly on lecky only

Cost is (or was) £5 membership for the year and no charge for each charge

Anyone considering a E350e ?

Just been looking at one and I do like the additional boot space on the saloon

And still below the magic 50 gr/co2 figure ...

I actually wanted a E350e rather than a C350e although when I was in the market to order, the E wasn't available yet.

Having recently gone through the ordering system at work, just to check numbers, the cost seems to have gone through the roof on the existing C350e and the E350e works out almost double what I'm paying for the C class.

Now, I know I received the full 5k grant for the C in Jan and also still subject to 0 VED and now the C only gets 2.5k grant and, if delivered after March '17, will be subject to some heavy VED tax for the first 5 years. But that doesn't equate to £200 a month more for the exact same spec C class (although the grant may not be taken into account at all in the calculations), and the E coming out almost double a month.

I would've loved the E though, I really like the size of my current E220 and the gadgetry in the new model is beyond amazing.

I'm looking at the numbers too ... but an E350e would have to be delivered in March 17 for it to make any sense at all

Like you say it should still get the 2.5k grant and I believe I can offset the purchase again of another year's Corp. tax.

I know I'll loose a lot on the depreciation of the C but I could reduce the corp tax bill for next year. Man Maths !

Mine getting delivered in 10 days.... Woohooo

Right guys and gals.. -- Hello... I am new to the forum but been reading it for yonks!!!

I get my C350e Salloon in 10 days and really looking forward ot it now. Mine is Black, with Beige leather interior --- not sure on that combo but it is too late now anyways... Cant wait to get it.

Have read loads, but any recommendations on what to do and what not to do in the first few weeks of getting my new car?

THanks,

FP.

What is the run in period? Is it twice what one would normally expect given that the engine is off for approx 50% of the time?

my engine has been off for around three quarters of the time - god knows when mine will be run in!

Which leads nicely to my next question...
I've been pootling along on electric since I left home but then have 'a moment' when I feel the need to have a bit of Sport+. All is great until I realise I am thrashing a stone cold engine!
Anyone any thoughts on what this can do to engine life?

I drove mine back from the dealers like I'd stolen it. I could not help myself.

Get Mercedes Me set up and locate the mobile website. Toys you can use when you're not even in the car!

Can I set it up, or is that something I need to do with the dealer? It is a NHS Lease car - if that makes any difference.

Also, what are the toys that this will unleash...

Cant wait - the count down is on.... Tic toc.

There are contrasting experiences on getting Mercedes Me set up on a lease car. I was one of the lucky ones who pitched up at a dealer with our driving licence and they switched it on. Others have had to show a V5, which means you're at the mercy of your leasing company. It seems that some allow it and some don't.

On the mobile website, there's:
- a trip readout including range, economy and charge
- options to set delayed charging and pre-entry climate control
- remote locking and unlocking (it will ping you if the car is left unlocked)
- remote location tracking
- route planning (I think you need COMAND to send destinations to your car)
- a weird thing called geofencing that alerts you if the car leaves an area
- a few other bits and pieces

On the app, there are some of the above, plus some maintenance checks.

I've used all the top 4 from the list. They work pretty well.

Geofencing is quite reassuring. I used it recently when I chose to leave my car in a pub car park overnight; I was staying in a hotel elsewhere. When I collected it in the morning I forgot to turn the geofencing off and within 100yds of the pub I received a text alert telling me it had left the zone.

It doesn't stop the car getting nicked but at least it tells you quickly so you can alert the police and tell them where it is!

I presume that it works even if the car has been lifted into a trailer?

Hopefully it will only ever be an assurance rather than a real need for tracking.

It is great to treat all cars with some mechanical sympathy but the days of worrying about 'running in' or cold start driving are long gone. A modern engine is manufactured so well the concept of 'gently wearing the rough edges off' is no longer relevant. The best advice is to avoid prolonged high revs or prolonged low revs (labouring a tight engine is more damaging than running at high revs). Basically 'normal' driving is the best treatment of a new engine.

Doesn't the cooling system for the electrics also run through the engine block, thus meaning it's not clap cold every start up?

Hi Guys.

So im 4 days into the ownership of my C350e, its awesome, still waiting for some items to be activated on the mercedes me app, but hopefully that shouldnt be much longer.

Been charging it up at home and getting 14 miles off a full charge indicated on the app and in the car.... Mercedes advise 19 miles on a full charge?? thought it might have been a low voltage at my house or something so pluuged it into one of chargemasters systems, still says 14 miles?? is this normal? does it get better??

I think 19 miles is the perfect lab condition range. Mine is typically 12-13, as it seems to base it on your last journey. As long as it says 100% you know you have had a full charge.

Oh man, there goes my hopes of getting to and from work on electric alone!! approx 18 miles to work, no serious hills, and about 10 of those on motorway. oh well, app shows 134.5mpg to work this morning, so cant grumble too much i guess!
