C350e anyone considering one?

at the moment I'm glad I dropped out, but on the other hand I know I will be JAF when I see one that one of you guys get!! good luck all, getting 'close':bannana:

On another forum we are being pulled apart by over zealous EV purists and I can see meeting a purist EVer at a charging point might be a tense occasion with the odd sneer turned our way.

This is the cause

I'm 70% it'll be fine with the higher CO2s.
I think MB would have a fair few cancelled orders on their hands otherwise, mostly estates. I'd have been happy with the 17s, didn't want the 18s, just had no choice if I wanted the premium pack on the estate.

So who's ordered a car with 18s, either out of choice or because they wanted an estate with packs?

This is going on foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I know, it's painful, right?
I'd be verging on devastated if it all goes t1ts up in the last few weeks, having waited what feels like an eternity.
November is just the corner though, isn't it?

Hoping my car is still on track, today was the manufacture date so hopefully it's now sat somewhere in Germany poised for he next step of it's journey. Due in at the dealership on the 14th, collection on the 18th if all goes to plan :)

My SLK gets inspected next week before it's hand back date, never been through that process before so hoping I don't get stung with lots of charges for repairs!

Just had chargers installed at work so should be able to do my full commute on electric :D

Think you have been drinking to much blended whisky :D

Wat does registregister mean exactly. My car( claim) has been registered with OLEV for six months now and I have thought that the money has been earmarked and payable after the car is registered with DVLA

I think register is to have the car registered with a V5 issued. The dealer cannot sell a car without a V5 and that is when the manufacturer will claim the Grant. The announcement definitely says that all 3 categories will receive the Grant irrespective of the number of grants - they expect the previous limit of 50,000 to be exceeded in Nov but will pay all Grants until Feb. My reading is that a C350e with 18" wheels falls outside of a 3 categories as it falls between 50 - 75g but falls short of 20 miles EV.

Spoke to my dealer today and after a pause which seemed to go on forever told me we are still on track.

Passing milestones now such as option freeze date and approaching build date which is the 14th of September.

Apologies to those who have a much longer wait, not trying to make it worse. Honest!

Just to change the subject, I've seen videos, mainly from the U.S. that show the C Class with externally lit door handles which illuminate when you unlock the door with the fob.

Does anyone know if UK spec cars have this feature?

Can't see it on the options list.

Comes standard on USA and Canada cars with KEYLESS-GO Comfort package

The UK cars seem to get the chrome handles but no mention of the LEDS ?

Yes I have. Nothing so far to say doesn't meet criteria for grant. Expected delivery middle December confirmed again this week. Fortnightly update but NHS fleet unable to get me the detailed milestone breakdown others are getting.

Well November is before December and am jealous.

Excellent about chargers at work. My commute to one office is 2 miles from home but can't see work providing one.

Yes I wondered that as I would like it too.

Look on the bright side, you will only have to pay for the journey home if they don't stump up ::bannana:

This come from Tim at OLEV today : Dear Deane,
*
Thank you for your email and follow up phone call.* Below is a message we sent out yesterday concerning the Plug-in Car Grant.* I hope this answers your query/
*
*
We are writing to give you an update on when the amount offered under the plug-in car grant will be reviewed.
*
The government committed previously to keeping the Plug-in Car Grant at £5,000 until 50,000 claims had been reached. We can now confirm that for all categories the grant will stay at its current level (35% off the cost of the car, up to a maximum of £5,000) until at least the end of February 2016. The lead time limit of 9 months will continue to apply i.e. the vehicle must be delivered and registered within 9 months of the claim being entered onto the portal.
*
An announcement setting out grant levels after February 2016 will be made after the autumn spending review, which is due to be published in November. We are grateful for your ongoing support.

The Go Ultra Low campaign have published a blog post on today’s news here. You can find the updated plug-in car grant guidance here

I presume that the 50,000 figure is now trumped by the February 2016 date ?

I can confirm it is on the car. Mine has the premium plus pack and the external locator lights under the handles are awesone.

Delivery update - they really are starting to come through. Spoke to my dealer today - I had a delivery to the dealer date of the 3rd Sept and this has now become no later than the 8th so at least they are actually delivering them. I'm not too disappointed as I expected 'slippage' and my home charger isn't being installed until the 8th.

Are you referring to the lights seen here :

Odd thing is that in the brochure mention is made of illuminated door handles but under the heading "Interior" No mention however in the section marked "Exterior"
I would have thought that they would warrant a mention if fitted ?

P.S. This is what I can see listed, could it be the first item perhaps ?

LED lighting located in door trim, side of centre console, front door sills, cup holders, footwells, door handle recesses and overhead panel. Five dimming levels and three colours: solar (amber), polar (ice blue) and neutral (white)

This is so American and not to my taste at all. Glows like a Christmas tree and don't see the purpose of it except if you are stoned and have to be reminded where the door handles are.

I doubt that you will be upgrading your E-Class anytime soon then :)
