C350e anyone considering one?

I'm not interested in BIK at all. I'm just looking forward to almost free motoring around town and city and the occasional use of that 600 Nm of torque just to show off :D

Maybe I should of expanded... My main reasons, Bik, spec, bhp, and pure ev commute

Electric cars; you cannot be serious?

The electricity at charging points is generated by the burning of fossil fuels in this country so they are no more environmentally clean than a diesel!

Have your milk float if you must, but the lead mined in south America, the industrial refining process, the transportation by cargo ship thousands of miles, and the battery manufacturing process, pushes the car's total 'Carbon foot-print' up to and beyond a vehicle with an internal combustion engine!

Until battery technology under goes a revolution, they remain untenable from a green house gas point of view.

How many litres of milk can you get in the back of yours anyway?

Cheers,
Robert

Oh how I laughed at your rant when I saw you proudly drive an SL63. You must have missed that the C350e is a 2.0L petrol compared to your 5.5L. Saying the C350e is no more environmentally friendly than a diesel seems to miss the current concern over particulates.

Interesting opinion about overall carbon footprint but is there any evidence to back it up. Petrol and diesel also have to be refined and transported in cargo ships.
Regarding battery technology undergoing a revolution to become tenable, if it isn't already, then surely we have to progress the technology as manufacturers are doing and not write off innovation,

I can see this thread going way off topic.
We are not debating the wisdom or otherwise of buying an plug-in hybrid, the 350e, we have bought one and look forward to the ownership experience whether it is green or not :)

As a relatively high mileage company car driver the C350e has many attractions as everyone who has ordered one is aware.

BiK certainly but not just that, performance well yes of course but not just that, spec and equipment level are major factors but not enough alone to clinch it. Price is great with the government subsidy but again it isn't just about the price.

As an engineer by trade and one of the gadget obsessed, what the C350e does so well is offer the latest technology in an unbeatable combination of all of the above.

Next time I change my car it will be different, there will be a myriad of alternatives but for now the only way is C!

As an engineer you may just like this one, I do :)

Right... had final confirmation that all the Connect Me services on my car will be disabled and no option to enable. This is due to it been a lease car, data protection with the geo tagging locations and maintenance. They are unable to only disable one element, its all or none.

Therefore resulting in not able to use the app for % status, pre-heating, timed heating etc. Remote Online for route planning etc i feel shafted to say the least.

Going to try and cancel it and walk away as i dont really want it now taking into account none of this was mentioned back in March!

Well if they will not back down and you are dependent on a third party to source a car it seems that you will be the only loser. Great shame but can't see why you would walk away if you then have to use all the same agencies to replace it. And with what ?

Yes, i would need to replace it with something else through them, but not all cars require an element of remote services which is the biggest issue here.

Im just annoyed if i would not of asked the question, the car would of arrived and then i would of been more brassed off.

Also, the 10 month lead time is not helping matters!

Could I ask what lease company this is through? Starting to get a bit nervous myself now... But probably not nearly enough to step away having driven one!

Take a look at the Connect Me site as it specifically states that Geofencing / Tracker etc can be disabled by calling Customer Services. I copied the address but it looks unfeasibly long !

I can put my private plate on it no problem... even though it states it can be disabled, blanket policy across brands is the message i have been given.

Well done.good choice. In the meantime please remember that we who wait need to know all about your experience with next week's car :)

350e. Will do. The car is scheduled with the dealer next Tue and with me Wed with any luck. Home charger being fitted Tue (£ 320 after grant) so hopefully a bit of a plan coming together. I realise how frustrating it must be having to wait - I have waited 6 months and it seemed endless but has been helped by me not really wanting to get rid of my CLS !

I'll post photos next week - it's an Obsidian saloon with chrystal grey leather and with privacy glass and dark wood plus some other options.

I have seen reviews on the new coupe, looks amazing. Would be great if they introduced an 'e' version. Not sure they will, nothing i have seen suggests they would be who knows.

Im still estaimated at delivery end Nov, cant come soon enough, so excited like a kid in a sweet shop.

Anyone seen the GLC 350e??? like a blown up C if im honest but the image is good. Guess this is going to be a long wait too.
