C350e anyone considering one?

Whilst waiting for mine to arrive which is expected in January now, rather than next month, I'm getting the odd hire car through work. My lease 520d went back in July.

Anyway, I have just been given a C200 petrol for next week. I must say that considering it's about 100hp and 300NM less than the C350e, it's pretty quick and handles very well, so the wait is going to be even more painful now. Thanks everyone who are giving feedback on their new cars, it's helping to keep me sane.

Having now had my car for a week, a few 'observations'

When you reverse it uses the electric motor - it is very very brisk going backwards !
During mixed driving I seem to get 45 mpg
The real range on pure electric with the air con on seems to be 14 miles
No external temperature - dealer surprised by this
Took the cup holders out of the front storage compartment - this is now huge
Couldn't disconnect the charging cable until I noticed you have to use the unlock on the key close to the inlet socket
It is very rapid accelerating from 60mph to 80mph. Feels much quicker than my CLS 350CDI
No squeekes or rattles - everything fits perfectly
iPhone 6 works great connected by just a normal usb cable in the centre console - charges and is integrated
Makes me smile when it closes the sunroof when entering a tunnel and opens it on exit
Distronic Plus is awesome - drives the car in stop go traffic - feet up and hands off !
Head up display - took a bit of getting used to as bizarrely I found it a little distracting initially. Now I just take it in when I want to.
My standard wheels seem grey alloy - they go very well as I have an Obsidian Black but not sure what they would look like on a silver car
Comfort setting on the airmatic is exactly what it says. Current missus hated my (so called) CLS AMG Sport as she found it too harsh
Hours of smug fun when you know you will be hitting stationary traffic on say the M25 so get the car to charge the battery to then use during the hour crawl
The car feels far more agile and enjoyable to drive than my CLS
It's not a VW
It's not a diesel
Apologies if this ramble is too long or boring

Integrated in what way? I can use Spotify from comand but CarPlay not available yet?

Questions for fellow C350e owners!

Hello fellow C350e owners

It might be early to ask these questions but it would be relevant for the rest of us “waiting to be owners” to know how you get on with your beloved machines.
I’d appreciate it if anyone can share their views, comments, mpg figures, advice and recommendations (if any) with the rest of members here:

- Has anyone tried Premium Petrol (97 RON) versus normal unleaded (95 RON) to see if it makes much of a difference in performance and/or mpg figures?
- Is it possible (at all) to achieve a high number, like 80-90 mpg from the car for an average combined journey of 90% sensible motorway driving?
- Are the chrome trims on the side and rear bumper an option or standard feature?
- Did you get any matching colour floor mat for your car?
- Has anyone got a Beige Leather interior? And if they have, is the carpet lining on the sides, the net document holders and the rear carpet inlay beige as well?

Many thanks,
Mark.

Can I please appeal for more threads, headed C 350e, for topics such as you request and which I am sure many will be interested in. Mpg, Fuel, Charging, Chargers, Driver / Owner experiences and so and so on.
After 83 pages this thread is simply too much for people to read through. I freely admit that anyone that has or is about to order a 350e will no doubt read every post from page 1 but after a while even those readers will think that there is a page to many.
It will be advantageous for a number of reasons, prime among them for me is that the more times that
C 350e appears as a topic heading in amongst all the others the more popular the C 350e will be :)

Dan, my journey on Friday wasn't straight forward so I couldn't give you figures as a direct comparison, however yesterday I did a 230mile round trip, I got bored using Economy setting and did flog it a bit to have fun in Sport and Comfort, but still recorded 45mpg.
Bizarrely I filled up with fuel last night, charged the car, and for the first time it actually showed 17miles range, so with the 1.5miles that you get in reserve the car was actually showing capability of doing 18.5 miles on electric. Given that I had been heavy with the right foot yesterday it clearly doesn't use driving style to influence the electric range which was a surprise. It's a fantastic warm day today, could it be temperature affecting it???

Ditto. Never liked the C Class before the new one. IMO Looked dull and the interior was uninspiring too. I used to have an Alfa 166 and the interior was beautifully designed just as the C Class is now.

I would like to drive one before I get mine though so may have to visit my local dealer and arrange something. Also an excuse to just sit in one for abit. My boys are fed up though and refuse to join me on the premis that "I just want to see how much space there is in the back for them". They are now wise to that tactic.

Having had a 156 and 166 I know exactly where you are coming from. My 525d m sport felt sterile in comparison to the 166, but the cabin in the c class is a really great place to be and is the first time since the Alfa that I have sat in a car that has a sense of quality and design flair like my beloved 166 (which was wallowy and a pig to drive, but I forgave it that!)

Happy to follow your lead on this, as I'm new to the forum I'm not really sure how to set that up so sorry to keep adding more posts!!

C350e owners club to take over forum ....let's do it lol ,,but your right ,I have been with this tread from day one and seen it evolve but it is long now ,

I liked that post as any YouTube vid relating to the C350e is a positive in my opinion, not sure quite what his issue is but still reasonably entertaining.

Would love to know what magazine he is referring to though..

Interesting that you have not heard more from dealer. My car was ordered in April and it took another nearly three months before I was sent the details, option freeze date, production period etc.
However within two weeks of placing the order I was sent documents to complete enabling the OLEV £5000 grant.

I filled in the OLEV grant forms same day and they were returned and accepted but still no news on freeze dates or production date.

Hopefully hearing something anyday..........

Yes I watched it as well. It's all relative and found it a bit vague in places but everyone has an opinion. With 4 subscribers I don't think the feedback will make a dent in the might of the marketing teams employed by car manufacturers who are undoubtedly playing with the whole hybrid thing.

All that said the only reason I ever saw the 350e as the car for me was the lease prices at the time. Now it's all got very interesting and the technology will be great to learn about but about to join the Green Party I am not.

Now where is my old Alfa 166 3.2 guzzler.....

Told today that my car is in the UK and will be mine on Tuesday 6th :)

Went to collect the car today, still no joy. New module fitted and the down shift is still very poor, the dealer says it is not adapting despite numerous attempts. Also learnt that there is a reticence to update the software as it could crash all the systems on the car making it a large paper weight! They are doing their best despite the sluggish response from MB when it comes to tech support. They have had the car for far longer than I have and still no end in sight! As a new car experience it sucks. Getting very pi$$ed off now. I have been offered vouchers to spend on MB gear! They really know how to compensate you for being a test dummy! I am beginning to think I should have stuck with a 5 series.
The cranksshaft sensor failed due to swarf in the bell housing! Not sure if this was from manufacturing or something failing, jury is still out on that! Looks like this might be a lemon!

Any more news?

Just trying to get my insurance sorted ready for collection on Wednesday - getting quoted far higher prices vs my SLK, despite the C350e being in a lower insurance group. Is it down to the list price?

Coming in at an extra £110 for the remaining 2.5 months of my current policy, or around £780 for a full year. Ouch!

On the plus side, not long to go until Wednesday morning :)

Great report, thank you.
Reading it aloud to my wife, not the current, present or anything other than my lovely wife I mentioned the HUD.
She remarked, we don't have that do we. I replied, "er, yes we do". And then, "did you order that without telling me". You know, what is a chap to do? "Yes darling I added it because I can't be sure that our Snooper will work". Not entirely true but when, well you know how it goes :D

I am sure you already know, but just in case -

Pocket GPS World - SatNavs | GPS | Speed Cameras - Speed Camera Download

You can download camera locations (perm & mobile) and put them into Comand as POI's - you then get an audio 'alarm' and also a camera icon on the map. You pay an annual fee and the camera locations seems to be regularly updated.

Esure reduced my premium by 10% for coming out of a CLS 350CDI and into a PP C350e.

Thanks for that, most interesting.
I was aware of the system but it had not registered that I could utilise the 350e screen. Would the warning alarms sound via the cars speakers or through a device that I have to connect up in the way of the Snooper.
