C350e anyone considering one?

Thanks for doing that, which is rather as I suspected it would be. I have ordered an energy monitor (WiTenergy) which connects via WiFi to my iPad from Amazon to discover my usage.
Because my Rolec Pod was installed outside of the government scheme I don't have the luxury of a consumption meter.

Did you receive an email from Mercedes advising your car was 100% charged before the process was completed ?
"Did you receive an email..." - now there's a question!!

Unfortunately I haven't yet got Mercedes me set up on the car. It's a lease via Lex so I'm trying to get that arranged and it's not proving to be as simple as I hoped!

Lex block a chunk of the connected features so that might put paid to that idea, sadly.
Real shame as some of those features I dare say are quite a boon.

I'm especially looking forward to remote climate control, no more hopping in a cold car!

It's something they omitted to tell me when I ordered the car many months ago and have only just advised that they do not allow. Not impressed, would recommend giving Lex leasing a wide berth here due to their short sightedness on this technology..

I can set a daily pre-heat in the car menu so I get a warm car in the morning, however I can't check state of charge, activate warming remotely if needed or pre-plan a journey in the sat-nav..

That's pants isn't it.
The leasing company I'm using have allowed it- not that it's any solace for you (sorry!).
Hopefully they'll come up with a way to activate it, but knowing how slow it is to do these things- probably not any time soon.

It's certainly not well publicised though.

Just don't tell me how useful the services are eh! :)

I'm having a small battle with them as they failed to notify me that I wouldn't receive everything I had ordered. I don't expect it to change but it will keep me busy on forums, twitter etc!

Having the same conversation with lex , not having any joy either , they just adised its blocked on all cars with a remote connection regardless of what that connection does (there issue is tracking, automated recovery/ service booking)

Hi

Does anyone know if lease plan have a similar stance?

Officially as I understand it, they've not confirmed either way yet- still in discussion.
So you'd need to seek permission from them, then MB can activate it.

They block certain features?!

How do they justify that?

Yes.. One of the reasons I canceled, I didnt get told either till I asked the question.

I tried everything in my power to get it enabled with the lease company which just resulted in a no....

Therefore I voted with my feet, plus having paid for remote online at £150 plus bik on it with no offer of a refund was just an insult.

Also.. Dont hold me on this, but the live traffic updates may also be disabled as they use the sim rather than the traffic master service, no one could confirm this but they felt it was the case...

This is the so called reason... ^^

My order is through Lease Plan. I spoke to them about this and said that I ordered that specific pack and these features were one of the selling points. They have agreed to activate these services for me and sent the request to the dealer for when my car arrives in December.
They said that they don't request it as standard but are doing upon request.

I have had my car a week now and wanted to let people on my first thoughts. Firstly its a very refined and comfortable car, whether using electric or petrol its considerably more refined than my old current shape Gold GTD. The transition from electric to petrol is mostly undetectable and most of the time i oly notice as the rev counter has come to life. The interior is truely a great place to be with every gizmo and gadget you could want for, the only downside to this is i think its quite a complicated how some of the menu's and submenus work with three buttons all leading you to the same menu. Im used to VAG cars which generally use the same systems and buttons which maybe i had become too accustomed to. everything seems very well put together and as i have the piano black trim its forever being polished free of prints and marks.

The hybrid system as i said works well, im only currently getting max 14 miles of electric range but im led to believe this will improve and in reality this is more like 6 or 7 miles. It will operate at up to 70ish MPH depending on the incline and will go into petrol when it becomes hilly. The car hasd ample power and will easily show most other cars a clean pair of heels its just a shame the heaviness of the car doent allow the car to be able to handle brilliantly and it clearly been designed for comfort more than agility which doesnt bother me after years of bone shaking audi's/Vw's et al.

Overall im very pleased with it all and look forward to driving it every day. i wish the electric range was greater but im sure when it comes to changing in 3 years hybrids will be capable of many more miles then is currently available.

feel free to fire any questions or queries and ill try to answer

@taylorj7
Glad to read that you are happy with your 350e, as am I with mine
Are you using Hybrid mode all of the time ?
I have seen the charge distance set at 16 miles and I have achieved a range of around 12 miles.
I agree that the transition from electric to petrol is almost imperceptible and it is a mystery to me why reviews have been published suggesting that it is not .

Yeah I tend to stick it in hybrid and Eco and leave it to its business. Like many reviews report it can get too complicated otherwise. I have tried the other setting and in sport plus it's a bit of a monster tbh and I'm constantly trying to not use petrol so not too much.

I've read some reviews on here that state the electric range improves with time as 13-14 prediction seems poor when they say u should be able to get 19.

One thing that I've yet to get used to is the braking. To me it seems a bit jittery as you come to a stop. I've tried different braking methods and whether it slow or sudden it still seems jittery but that's the most unrefined part of the car so far.

One thing I discovered today is the option to alter the driver settings such as steering, suspension etc. more options on options if you ask me, I haven't tried them yet?? Have u?? Does it change the character of the car much??

In the 1 week I've had mine:

I'm seeing a quoted range of 14miles each morning when fully charged.

I'm using hybrid mode on a mix of main roads in traffic for approx. 5 miles to the motorway, motorway for around 15 miles and then main roads again for 5 miles. Using hybrid mode I'm mostly in electric only for the main roads and a mix of electric and petrol engine for the motorway. On arrival the car is at 18% and it advises it's been powered by the electric only for 18 miles and fuel economy achieved is around 75mpg. Obviously it's adding charge at some points when slowing / coasting.

On the journey home with no additional charging in the day, the petrol engine is running more (obviously!). I leave the motorway with battery charge at around 22% and then switch to e-mode and get most of the rest of the journey home on electric only, pulling onto the drive at around 9% battery charge. mpg achieved is around 35mpg so overall I'm seeing around 55mpg from careful driving.

Not so careful driving returns very low mpg but a lot of fun!

All figures of mpg will improve with higher ambient temperature. Early days/weeks of careful driving contributes in maintaining a better battery pack and also engine bedding in. Petrol quality must also be taken into consideration. Lets hope for a milder winter :thumb:

Enjoy ;)

Yes, seen that on the wife's Leaf through this year. Much better range in the warm weather, just because the batteries are warm!

I'm actually hoping for a really cold winter, (strangely enough) so I can get the benefit of the pre-heating in the morning!! :)

Just had confirmation my C350e is being delivered on the 23rd November to my home.
