C350e anyone considering one?

I read earlier on this thread (or somewhere else) that the grant is only applicable with certain spec cars. Getting larger wheels makes the car ineligible. Research needed.

I believe that post 407 will help to add some further information, uumode. I have also recently received an email from the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) to verify this position. I will seek their approval to republish it in this thread.

Pretty sure its only for the cars on 17 inch wheels under the 50co2 limit and cars which can be delivered within 9 months.

All C350e configurations qualify for the government's full plug-in car grant of £5,000 at present.

Once the 50,000 plug-in car grants of the current scheme have been exhausted, a tiered approach based on 'tailpipe CO2' and 'zero emission mileage' will be adopted, with cars placed in three categories. No details have yet been released on the subsidy level that each category will attract, if any.

I believe, though I do not know, that the nine month restriction originates from Mercedes-Benz UK, who are "guesstimating" on the expiration of the current plug-in car grant scheme and their ability to deliver customer cars within that time.

a couple of folk here have ordered the c350e. Orders were signed off in June but we are being told by NHS fleet solutions that we should expect a waiting time of around until 9months. Thats a long wait!!

I have been told by our contract hire company Monday (July 6th) that MB are not taking any more orders for C350e until at least October or November!!

Is this true? Anybody else found the same?
Gutted.....

Would not surprise me based on the amount of C350e which appear to of been ordered across the EU

Third email with estimated delivery date of mid December. Order date was 13/5/15.

Was trying to resist temptation but emailed my dealer to check we are still on schedule for September delivery and he confirms it still is.

Thinking now I should have asked him to specify which September :)

But fingers crossed.

So finally found a car at a dealers that had premium plus kit. Must say very nice and well worth waiting for when it finally arrives.

Bristol have a C350e in for demo...

Where did you find that one ?

Has any body here actually test drove a C350e, I drove a diesel which was nice, fully loaded.

Was much nicer than my 2012 A$ Black Edition anyway.

Just really curious about this car as I've ordered it really for the BiK benefit and the performance but I do wonder what happens to performance once you put your foot down for a little while and battery is exhausted.

I drive 30K miles a year and the £5K government contribution means I can afford a higher spec that I otherwise could and I estimate that the BiK saving for me will be circa £200 per month so it really is a no brainer.

But I do wonder on a normal motorway run what the real life performance will be.

Hi to you all.

My word. I have just waded through 29 pages, anyone else done that, and I have been on a roller coaster :D

Yes, I have a 350e on order which I hope to take delivery of in September / October. However having read all that you guys have written about nine month delays etc I am beginning to wonder.
I am quite relaxed about a moderate delay but nine months :(

I have driven a very loaded version of the c350e Estate in May (after I already ordered). It's quick, comfortable and bootspace is better than I expected. I only thought that braking to full stop is somewhat akward when electric braking is taken over by conventional braking. Apart from that I really liked it. If there is anything you would like to know specifically from the testdrive, just let me know.

I've ordered a C350e saloon with premium plus - placed my order about a month ago, the dealer already had one on order for their own stock so I've nabbed that and I've been promised September delivery.

I'm told my the last day I can change any options would be the start of August, but the dealer has suggested not to change anything for risk of the date changing. Do you think swapping from palladium to brilliant blue would have an impact on the dates? I'm not too familiar with how that side of things works, so any advice appreciated. I'll stick with palladium otherwise and hope the September date remains accurate.

I would not risk anything. Brilliant blue looks nice but hold your nerve and don't be tempted would be my advice. I give this advice based on no knowledge of the processes at play here, just on gut feeling alone.

Interesting position and comment by dealer. I have a 350e on order and I understood from the dealer that the critical moment is the "Freeze Point".
I was able to make changes recently and have received confirmation of the change. In addition I was provided with this information from the system. :

Option Freeze Date

:*24.08.2015

Baumuster Freeze Date

:*25.06.2015

Requested Production Date

:*11.09.2015

Expected Delivery Date 2

:*01.10.2015

Expected Delivery Date at Port

:*24.09.2015

Don't know if the above is a move movable feast, just keep fingers crossed :)
