Hi All,

I was told by asmarb to search for posts relative to resetting the Adaptive Transmission back to factory defaults but I haven't managed to find what he described so hopefully someone knows or can link me to the right thread if discussed previously.

My C43 performs a ‘very smooth’ change when full tilt on the beans, then seams reach %100 power within the subsequent second (sorry, quite difficult to describe and I haven’t owned or driven another reasonably spec’d Benz to know or compare). I’m more than content with the performance, but if it’s possible to start a transmission based learning process from scratch, I’d very much like to try that as an option.

I’m hoping it’s not a remap type process c/o laptop and serial cable as that’s beyond my capabilities.

Any thoughts?

It adapts to your driving style as soon as you start to drive it.
The reset just sets things back to default but will soon be ignored as you drive the car.
I don't think there is any validity in this procedure unless you have a specific problem.
try driving the car down a dual carriageway with roundabouts and when coming off each roundabout drive it like you stole it. The autobox will soon learn the new requirement, but will also revert back pretty quickly as well.

Just for info iirc, the procedure is ignition on, pedal to the metal and hold it there, ignition off and wait for one minute before releasing the pedal.

Don't some of the cars hold back in 1st gear, to protect the drivetrain? I seem to remember this being the case on Maff's CL65.

It actually takes quite a while for the gearbox to learn new behaviour so worth resetting if it's bothering you. Bear in mind shift behaviour changes with temperature.

Have a read here

Yeah, that's pretty much what it feels like. The (remainder of the) full surge of power is delivered momentarily after the gear change. Thanks for the advice guys. I’ll leave it alone for a week or so as it definitely doesn’t feel like a problem. Cheers!
