C63 507 Model Register

There looks to be a massive dent in the rear quarter and the rear bumper looks a totally different shade...

If I was offered that car for 30 I think I’d struggle to part with the cash despite the spec being excellent... poor cars had a hard 3 owners...

But it is “Ultra Rare” with two tone Magno paint costing £6000 ( or more to put right)

Looks like the rim has been diamond cut, and does look better than just doing the whole wheel black. I’ve still not found anyone who can re cut the silver outline using 5-axis milling :(

Welcome

From my experience you may have to travel, and at short notice to find the right car for you. Good , well maintained , unmolested 507s (and regular C63s) are getting harder to find. Those that do come up don’t tend to hang around long. I did a 560 mile round trip to find mine and I’m very happy. Have a look at a few to get a feel for want a good one looks like. When you find a good one you will know straight away.

As for the Fire opal red , I don’t personally know anyone with a car that colour that has not had it repainted under warranty by MB.

Happy hunting. :)

Friend of mine just bought a ppp fire opal red 13 saloon model, and was informed that it was repainted under warranty , but not by MB themselves, some local spray guy they used and it just wouldn't be to factory stardard, grand to look at , but when you would start to polish ya may notice the difference

I believe some are being painted by dealerships if they have their own body shops but many don’t and use an “approved body shop” for all their paint work. I’ve always found that good paint costs (a lot) and quality varies from one to another. Generally you get what you pay for. Good paint is always down to good preparation which is where a lot of the time and the money goes. I suppose it’s a bit soon to understand if the repainted cars will stand the test of time.

I had a bonnet and front wing resprayed on my ML by a Mercedes dealers own bodyshop. They did a crap job and the paint never looked right. I had to remove a lot of over spray myself but no matter how much the bonnet was polished it was always noticeable.

Do you mind me asking, Which Mercedes dealer carried out the work?

I’ve always found its a lot harder to find a good body shop than a good Mechanical/electrical garage. Much more “art and craft” in bodywork. Generally with a good body shop they are booked up weeks or months in advance.

Lol, or whatever she’s smoking

Fingers crossed they get the asking price, decent 507s will go up in value :D doubt they will get anywhere near that. Plenty of folk have already said having a warranty and access to finance / trade in when buying at that price point is very important.

There was someone selling a very tidy low mileage (-10k) Fire Opal Red C63 Black Series on PH for ages , think it started at £95k and dropped to £89,950. Next thing it popped up at Tom Hartley for around £85k and went in less than 2 weeks. Cars at that price aren’t easy to sell privately.

+1
Financing / warranty / Partexchanges is all it takes, Hence the reason privately it’s very difficult..

That estate at DT Performance has sold.

If anyone has a 507 estate they are interested in selling let me know. Ideal is sub-40k miles. Preferably not white but condition more important. None-smoker vehicle.

Cheers,
Banbury
