C63 507 Model Register

Was that the one without 507 decals and the refurbished black alloys?
No that one is still on eBay and autotrader and I suspect will be for another 6 months before he drops the price.

This one has been for sale for a long time too , I think it has the Performance Pack suspension which put me off even looking at it plus the Red paint problems, and they weren’t budging on price.

Yep. With the dodgy rear painted bumper.
The same red one has also been up at another dealer a few times. Guessing it’s the colour.
 
He showed me a video of the magno one prior to when he bought it and the bumper was clearly a very different colour and decals were missing then

There 2 completely different cars , the one @ GKirby is a original mint car and has a factory LSD with a super spec, went to see the one at GKirby and it’s an absolute minter and an original car with full merc history and in magno it looks the bees knees. I’m debating a 507 or Black Series

Is a black series worth that much more than a 507 ?

We weren’t debating which is which, we all know the GKirby one is the one from Wolverhampton and the other car is the one with a painted bumper.
 
The black series is a very different car and likely a lot more collectible than a 507’ever will be. If I had 90k in the bank not doing much I know which I’d buy.

For what it’s worth I drove both Black Series C63 and 507 before making my choice Of car. The BS definitely gives you bragging rights , “it’s a Black Series” , and looks more aggressive. It was way too hard on the suspension, very crashy on normal (poor) tarmac , didn’t feel any quicker than a 507 , or even a regular C63 “in the real world” ie clogged up crappy roads, no memory seats and no sunroof, plus was double the price of a good 507 and therefore not worth it for me.

On a track I’m sure the BS is “the one to have” , long term investment? Who knows. The 507 provides as much power as I’m ever going to want, or need, a comfortable ride and a sunroof so I can turn the music off and listen to the V8 in S+ :cool:

The market says so , there was a red one for sale with around 10k miles and 5 previous owners , so presumably a lot get bought , put in a garage and rarely used.

My first thought is "what an utter waste of a car".....................but then if Black Series cars maintain their values in the future a 507 becomes the next best thing if people can't reach the pricing point of a Black Series so our values should follow suit, albeit at a lower pricing point.

There are a lot of folk out there with a lot of money who can afford to keep an expensive car in the garage and take it out very rarely to show other folk “look what I’ve got” and no problem with that. They often change cars as they have several to choose from.

Unfortunately the more expensive a car is the less it’s likely to get used. If a one owner 507 with less than 5k miles came up it would likely make £45k through a dealer and be gone in days. Put 15k miles on it and it’s back in the pack price wise. So low mileage cars tend to get used even less as folk protect their investment.

Bragging rights aside I decided the 507 was actually the better car for me and one I’d prefer to drive. I couldn’t live with a BS suspension and paying another £4K for adjustable aftermarket suspension wasn’t worth it and I still wouldn’t have a sunroof , or memory seats in a BS

To be honest, all things being equal, I can't see why the 507 is worth a £10-15k+ premium over a PPP. Same engine, but you get a fancy bonnet and decals.

I can almost understand the premium of the black series, it has fundamental chassis/bodywork/suspension changes etc. But IMHO it's not double the car compared to a PPP/507, but it's double the price.
