The crazy thing is I bloody brought it from merc Benz Birmingham central so what that says about them I don't know. I've had call off merc AMG Exeter marsh barton it is a sensor that has caused the fault. Fingers crossed it's out the work shop after they road test it (which they called to ask if they could) very nice of them. I will have all the reports all the old parts and I'm going to take pics of everything that has been done. I must say the guys @ merc AMG Exeter have been tip top on there work and sorting the warranty company out so can't really moan. Had £4300 plus work done on the engine and I've not paid 1p. I asked if new head bolts been put in and they where ordered and replaced. Update will be tomorrow pics recipts and I hope my car please LORD LET THERE BE A ROAR. is there anything I should ask and know before I take the car away just want to make sure I don't return.

930am pick up. wed is the last day. It's had a full test today and all good. CANT WAIT ha ha ha. Sorry about the wait guys the report and pics are coming

Good news Steve - did they supply and fit the new head bolts under warranty as part of the claim?

Got my car back. She is running like brand new. I love her more than my wife ha ha ha. I'm trying to upload pics but don't seem to be able to. Head bolts where done as well under warranty. I've got the full list of what's been done parts labour the lot. How do I post pics?? Sorry I'm doing this on iphone so might be a pain I'll do it on PC if I have to. I've even phoned the MBL body work guys up and there's 2 little dents in my car there sorting them out ha ha ha. MB are the best I've had BMWs and you never get treated like this. If you guys can point me in the right direction on how to do the pics I'll get it all done ASAP

I guess that is the problem with owning an AMG, not that I have ever heard of one having an engine issue!
Well I would think the problem lies with the heat treatment of the steel lifters that grade of steel would need to be case hardened ,the camshafts are made of cast iron and these are now made with mechanical chills in the molds so that when the molten iron is poured the halides rise to the surface and so after machining the camshaft does not need to be hardened,I cannot believe the V8 AMG engine is put together by people who do not know how to assemble it properly so case hardening may well be the problem,I wonder if the guy can ask to see the parts that have been removed from his engine,and maybe take some photo's,then we might have some idea what the hell is happening.
