C63 Collected!!

Mine asked specifically to go in it this morning! He can see the TV screen, so that's all he cares about at the moment, lol.

Congrats on the car, looks lovely. One of the few estate cars I like the look of.

I paid £11.5k balance on a debit card for the 530d a week ago. I got asked my name, postcode and day/month of my DOB. Took about 5mins and payment was approved!

Annoyingly (but not surprisingly) you can't arrange a test drive via the site for AMG models... Harumph. Also can't price one up, just lists the base model price.

Maybe I'll wander over to a dealer tomorrow...

Jack - it's must have seemed you were waiting ages! I've only been without mine for just over a week and it seems ages away before I get mine (whenever that'll be :dk:)

Very nice car and I hope you enjoy it! Let us know what you think after you've driven it a bit more - in particular, how it compares with your other recent cars (FFRS, Cayman, RS4)!

I like the understated look of a C63 estate with 18" wheels - the more subtle the car, particularly when living in a big city (in my experience), the less hassle you get from d*ickheads trying to prove themselves in bad boy clio's and saxos.

Lovely looking car by the way.

Oh..... and it's in black as well. Not bad, not bad at all..... rather nice in fact....

Automotive heaven. Dream on Mr O'Rilla...... you have a sailing habit to finance :)

Enjoy it - a lot! And congratulations on your rather good taste in motor vehicles

Congratulations, very,very nice.

Sailing - now that is one hobby that is considerably more expensive than running an AMG, but just as much fun :thumb:

Congrats on your new C63, it looks stunning in black. Let us know how you get on after a few weeks, will make my wait even worse then! ;)

Well, after the compaint of it being too quiet inside, this morning I had a little slip of the foot and the poor dear got cranked up to 6.5krpm on the sliproad onto the M60!!

Mmmmmmm, quite nice, isn't it :)

I'll sit down and give a full thoughts-so-far post in the next few days. Still spending most of my time playing with the electronics while the engine is running in. But so far I have found some annoying quirks with the gearbox. This is my first automatic, and I was paranoid as hell that I wouldn't get along with it, and it seems I may have been right. I can't find a mode that I am 100% happy with. For example in Manual, it won't let you cycle 2 changes in one go (like a double click to shift through 2 gears quickly) and you have to let it fully change the first gear before it accepts the second click to change to the second gear. However in Sport mode it will allow you you double-click the paddle and it gives you 2 shifts, like I would want, BUT, if you are slowing for a corner and double-click it will often drop 3 gears! The 2 you asked for, plus the one of its own that it had decided it needed to drop because you were breaking! Very frustrating. Altogether I am finding the gearbox lethargic and frustrating. But, it's early days, I'm sure I'll find something that suits my style.

Thanks for all the complements. It does look very nice, although it is pretty damned dirty already. Typical crappy Manchester weather!

the gearbox is fuzzy logic so should learn your driving style over the course of a couple hundred miles.

a saloon C63 went past me at full chat on Tuesday night. That noise in the dark of night was spine tingling.

Fabulous cars, I'm envious. But, NOT envious of your colour choice,.....Black is an absolute pain the in the @rse to keep looking good, and I wouldnt relish the headache's of keeping it gleaming .
Particularly in Manchester

I guess there is a reason Silver is soooooo popular :thumb:

Enjoy, and if you can can that exhaust noise, I'll buy a Tin to keep on my desk please .......:p

Luckily I'm not that **** about keeping cars clean. This probably won't get washed now until it goes in for its diff oil to be changed at 1400 miles :)

As for the noise, I'll try capturing a couple of sound clips from the exhaust and post them :)

Edit: forgot to mention that I was coming through the airport tunnels this morning and dropped a gear with the paddles and got the most almighty crack of backfire from the exhaust :D They really do sound like the cars they use at F1 races :)

I never forget Jeremy Clarkson’s quote on the Mercedes auto gearbox during his test-drive ‘changing gear is a bit like getting a mortgage, you are never really sure what you are going to get’ :o

I must admit from my experiance with the 7 speed MB box it is not that great, it always seems to be on the hunt and is never very quick at changing up or down even in AMG speedshift guise.

At least your heart doesn't skip a beat every time there's some weirdness in the gearchange :thumb:

As said, it's adaptive so I suspect it will key into what you're after fairly shortly.

And wash it before 1400 miles! The paint is still young, you should get it perfect and/or then speak to H13BBS about a sealant treatment - means you can wash it with snowfoam and a pressure washer in about 5 minutes for the next year or 2...
