What a surprise!

Perhaps get a better after market grill from the US and get an Indy to fit it? Bad quality in manufacturing drives makes me mad - especially when you are paying for a premium brand.

That's the similar issue I had, I suspect you were driving too fast Mika!

I was having the oil cooler replaces under warranty so asked the stealer if they would fit it at the same time (saving me labour costs) but by the time they eventually called me they had put it all back together.

They insist it is a bumper off job but I wonder if I can get at the side one when the wheelarch is off.

My wife's CLK has proper mesh on hers and when she killed a bird it just pushed it all in and I then pulled it out with a hook - good as new!

Saying that, I still haven't got round to fitting my £12 grille and I know I will break something and end up paying the dealer to do it anyway.

I presume the plastic is cheaper than metal mesh.

S

PS it's not bad manufacturing or defective products, it is plastic being hit by another object at no doubt over 80mph. Just be grateful it was not a headlight!!

Fair point on collision. Mika, don't sliw down, it is boring!

Mercedes Benz Maidstone are extremely decent chaps:thumb:

they sorted my grille out supplied and fitted and it hardly cost me - just the price of the grille, it was a gesture of goodwill on their part
fully fitted , invited me into the inspection bay , free health check , full clean inside and out , and sorting some bodywork warranty work too

amazing what a little chat can do...

.... and ive got the broken grille as a template i might have a bulletproof one built for later

WTF - what bodywork issues do you have Mika, your car is new, virtually!

Kamal

a very small blemish under the wheel arch looks like a lump in the paint
which will be done under warranty

plus some nice person tried to take the bonnet badge and has caused a small dent and scratch :( not under warranty but they are going to repair it for me as a further gesture of goodwill

i was not best pleased with the vandalism

Sorry to hear about the vandalism, very annoying!

What a result! Isn't Maidstone the new AMG centre, maybe they are trying to curry favour....

yeah its an AMG centre , very posh , quite a few on the forecourt and in the show room E63 estate CLS63 two SLS's
they certainly are making the effort there was an open evening a couple of days ago which is on another thread - i didnt go but was impressive apparently

anyway mine is in better shape now, looking forward to Goodwood!

I am still meaning to have a go myself.

My car also needs a spruce up before Goodwood, says it needs a service but the dealer says wait unil 15500miles or 12 months??

S

It's done 11500 in 10 months and now says service in 700 miles?

I think they p1ss about with these settings.

a result i believe sahould have shopped around ... i ended up going to where i bought the car. sorry for the late reply work has been busy and thats an understatement.

hey kamal when are we meeting to compare... also where do you go to wash the car?

so far the front grill ie behaving ... put it is poor qualtiy my father just laughed he couldnt even understand why i bought the car . bear in mind in his day everything cost a penny ....

and there goes the front grill again ....... less then 2months and its broken again ... surely this an issue that mb have to address i cant keep paying for a new grill every 3 mnths......

:doh::doh::doh:

all i have been doing is going to work 5-10 min normal roads no speeding or colllisions

i know very unlucky ..... but im not happy .... out of interest who else has broken this grill ?

Reviving an old thread but I noticed a hole in my grill today as well. I only picked up the car last weekend so not sure whether the hole was already there before I picked it up or whether I did it. Never experienced this sort of thing before with other cars! Quite poor for a car that cost 60k to come with flimsy plastic grill!
