Car
2012 c63 saloon
I've got a facelift standard c63. I've mapped it with a eurocharged v5 tune and I'm now wondering if an LSD is worth fitting. I really like the way the car drives. Especially in manual/sport mode. It's really easy and so predictable. I can easily give it a safe flick off a roundabout and it makes you look like a much better driver than you actually are. My question is, if I fitted an LSD how would it affect this? Would it make the car in effect, more grippy? I'm not so sure that's a good thing with an amg merc? Also what effect does it have on the race start mode??

That's a great answer. I was sort of looking for a bit more detail

What exactly is the difference to the actual driving experience? I like the way the car feels tail happy when I want it to be. If I fit a quaife will it take some of that away?

It may but unless u are sure that your flick won't end up in the ditch, then LSD is your safety net (to a certain extent)

Without LSD, flicks on wet weather is very very unpredictable. It may even happen when you don't want it to.

I sort of understand that it allows the car to put the power down better. But that's not what I'm asking. I've got 100% confidence in the car as it is now. I wouldn't drive it quick in wet weather, that's just silly.

I have always wandered exactly that... So effectively fitting an LSD would make the car less drift-able? No more burnouts?

Genuine questions

This is how I understand it. Less drift able but more grip. I sort of like it how it is?

LSD will allow easily controllable powerslides if that is your thing. On track it will help you help the power down out of corners, likewise junctions on the road.

I would suggest you only think about it if you are lighting up the inside rear wheel when turning or have uncontrollable fishtails.

My little car can still go sideways if pushed, LSD just makes it a lot more predictable and controlled without the inside wheel breaking away.

That's what I like. I don't want to become the next Ken block. I love the way my car is so easy to do miniature drifts off roundabouts when I want it to.

Feels more planted, better acceleration especially if pulling away from a roundabout.
Traction control does not kick in as much.....
Much more grip in the wet.

It's a no brainer to be honest.

No offence Lee. But you've got 200 horse more than me so your opinion don't count

I had the Eurocharged map as my first mod.....second mod was the Quaife LSD......that was running at 534bhp.

If you like going sideways then the LSD makes it much more controllable and with the traction off you can lay down massive 11s.......if that sort of thing flicks your switch

So in your honest opinion. Would you say that when you fitted the LSD it made the can more fun or just more controllable

Neil surely the more controllable a car is the more fun it will be as you'll be able to get more form it. Or are you after the almost fear fact that at any point it's going to bite you on you're **** and dump you into a kerb or Bush which makes it fun for you
