Hi guys
Does anyone have any experience of getting a gearbox remap for faster shifts, quicker reaction times to paddle inputs etc....
Have seen a couple of places advertising the service but would like to know if its as good as it sounds/if there are any downsides (like does it make the comfort setting less.......comfortable)

I am not sure there is a faster gearbox map - the gearbox is inherently slow.

DMS used to apply the CLK63 Black Series map to it when you purchased their ECU remap, until they found out the stock C63 map was actually quicker!

Ha brilliant. cheers for the info mate, thats the sort of thing I am very keen to avoid!

You've got a different gearbox in yours though, facelift uses the MCT no?

Oh just read the blurb, seems it works for both MCT and 7G - game on!

I've seen JR Tuning advertising the gearbox remap - any one experienced the difference?
I've recieved an email from JR on the costing and method that they use to install the software, and it all sounds ok

I'm not sure you're DR520 would benefit from this at all. It's more aimed at standard (457 BHP) cars I think.

Check with MSL or Eurocharged, they would be best placed to advise you on your options.

I've been thinking about this for mine, and wondering if it's worth it, or going the whole way and having the full "bullet proof transmission" fitted.

Glad we still have you as a guinea pig Lee, to let us know what it's like. :D

I got a quote for the bulletproof transmission and it was very appealing.....the killer though is the delivery cost to and from California. However, next year as they will knock the price of the TCU upgrade off I will be getting it done......just to help the transmission with the next round of mods:devil:

7g transmission is the same in all cars.
The reason I am going for it is more of a precaution to save the "clutches" as mine is running slightly more than stock power levels.

The bonus is along with the "protectio" factor I will get faster shifting

I understand it's the same box in the DR520 but to get that 520 BHP, it must of been mapped (gearbox and ECU).

520 BHP is about the average what you get from a Eurocharged remap, which is the gearbox and ECU map.

That's why I don't believe a gearbox map would do anything to a potentially already mapped car over standard.

Eurocharged map does not do the gearbox, just the ECU for engine..... That's my understanding anyway.
Only way to currently map a TCU is to remove it from car, ( which means dropping the transmission fluid) as far as I know.

If anything a more powerful car would require the valve body upgrade to prevent any clutch slip.....especially if driving in manual
See below image of my valve body/TCU after being removed

That's not my understanding of a remap Lee.

As far as I was aware, the remap alters the ECU and gearbox, whether it be the TCU, or some part of the gearbox control, within the ECU I'm not sure.

Perhaps Acid or Paul at Eurocharged could clarify this?
