C63 Vs C43 (C450AMG) 0 - 155MPH

Just in case anyone is looking to order a C43, I thought I'd let you lot know a couple of things. The AMG performance seats aren't available to order at the moment, not until later on in the year. Also, you can't order a C43 without a premium package at the moment

The only real issue with the new C63 is the price. The M3 can be had brand new for a smidge over £50k with discounts available. Mercedes are just greedy and that's why the M3 has annihilated its sales.

It's a shame because I believe the new one is fantastic!

I'm not convinced that's entirely true. We still struggle to get hold of C63 build slots (mainly the S model) so they're definitely fulfilling production numbers. Go on Autotrader and look at the number of W204 C63's vs. M3's of the same age, there's generally 5 times as many.

The C43 is a normal production model, so will hopefully sell in bigger number, but it's still important for AMG to limit 63 numbers. If they wanted to sell a lot more, they would drop the prices a lot more

How much is the 43?

PM me your email address and I'll send you the brochure/price list. Saloon, estate or coupe?

Thanks mate. The AWD sounds interesting and my local dealer claims the 43 is much better to drive than 63.

Saloon or coupe I think.

Go for it Stuart :thumb:

Unless you really need those two extra doors the Coupe is surely the way to go, plus the seats look better in the coupe and it would, I imagine, be a slightly rarer sight on our roads (relatively speaking) than the 43 saloon.

I requested quotes for C63 from CarWow a couple of months ago, and whilst I can't remember the discount percentages, I had several dealers contact me with prices between £50k and £51k for a standard car with a couple of extras.

I thought that was fair value for a C63. Thirteen years ago my C32 cost more!

I've just ordered a new C63 Coupe with premium pack and a few more options via Drive the Deal. Discount was just under 10% which I considered pretty reasonable given that all dealers I spoke to wouldn't entertain any discount.

That's a different kettle of fish at that price. Though BMW are knocking out 18% on an M3

For me this will come down to handling the C63 just does not handle well at speed it's too nose heavy and this is where the E63 beats it hands down a much better balanced and composed car.

I suspect the V6 removes that nose heavy problem and gets its composure closer to if not better than the E63

The deal breaker for me in both cases though is that stupid stick on iPad screen in the C which us something the more classy E doesn't have

Do 35kg really make a difference in a full weight saloon tipping over 1.6 tonne?

Doubt it, not even an adult passenger.

C63 will always be the better engineered car, no matter what anyone says.

Thanks. I started feeling stupid for missing the lightweight engineering marvel track weapon C Class with 100BHP and 35kg removed from the bulkhead area.

I just lost 20kg and my car feels a lot faster than before!;-)

Really? I had the original invoice for my C55 and it was really well specced and it was only 52k with all extra's. Surprised the C32 was the same......

These V6 turbos sound good, but it isn't a V8. I have the same issue with the SLC43. It is a sad day when AMG sacrifice performance for this Eco nonsense.

Ai, Ai, Captain :thumb:

Agree with you totally on that one and most enthusiasts would probably say the same - the burble of a V8 is certainly a joyous thing.

Always prefer a V8 to a V6 and an I6 over a V6 but for this vehicle, product positioning, marketing considerations, engineering/packaging constraints and (as you say) the ubiquitous pressure on CO2 emissions mean't the V6 was the obvious choice.

Lots of talk of 63 comparisons - not much of firm 43 orders being placed.....

I'm not really sure why people are comparing it to the C63, as its a lesser model. It's not like they've stopped the c63. For the coupe, we have one build slot left for our 5 dealerships, so we're definitely taking all the orders we can supply

I agree, the C43 has to be a massive bridge between the current line up and the C63, and much more affordable. You must be seeing loads of interest and orders.

What are the delivery estimates at the moment??
