Calling all SL60 owners, show me your grilles...

I'm sure the 60 had the same grille as any other contemporary R129 (the grille design changed at least once ... in the 1996 facelift IIRC).

I know for sure that my '91 grille was plastic with chrome covers. Could be wrong about the 60's having different grilles, still don't no what's wrong with mine!

It is anodised I think, definitely not paint.

Yours looks like someone has sprayed the fins with a stone finish effect rattlecan or something.

My '97 one has anodised slats ... sort of gunmetal colour. The only R129 that had a special grille AFAIK was the Silver Arrow edition which had (surprisingly!) a silver one.

That's for that good call, the grille in those pics definitely looks more shiny than mine, I'm guessing it's anodised, still can't work out what mine is!

Yours look like mine but the surface looks rough not smooth, like a paint finish not a natural metal one. probably the photo.

Thanks for that, no, it's not paint, when you touch it it feels a like very fine emery paper, but definitely not paint. In fact I quite like it, I'm just a bit bemused about being told it's "not right"!
