When I got my W220 I set about doing a number of things to ensure that it was in tip top condition for my daily drive into work. So far the following jobs have been completed on the car, albeit in dribs and drabs by my local independent MB specialist,

1 Diagnostic analysis by local independent MB specialist
2 Auto transmission fluid and filter change
3 New front discs and pads
4 Oil change with fully synth shell helix
5 Propshaft coupling replaced
6 Airfilters replaced
7 MAF replaced
8 Rear diff oil changed with fully synth
9 Coolant system drained, tested and refilled with correct spec
10 New thermostat
11 Cabin filters
12 A shiny new MOT last weekend!

She's running like a dream, but according to the last service information I have it was due for a full "B" service in January. Looking at the service schedule many of the jobs I have had done individually (to spread the outlay) are covered so it seems like a bit of a waste of money to part with a few hundred quid to get it done again.

My garage has advised me to postpone the full service until the oil change is due, and seeing as this was only done again at the end of January, is likely to be at least 5 months which puts us into July.

Does this sound reasonable is there anything I should consider doing in the meantime though?

Sounds technically OK to me.
However, do you want to retain FMBSH?
If so, then you may have to bite the bullet. Even if its just the barest minimum to get the stamp.

As long as you're not relying on Mobilo for breakdown cover then once it's out of warranty you can do (or not do) whatever you want.

Not bothered about either... I plan to keep the car until its no longer economical to repair and I think any chance of Mobilo assistance is probably long gone!

In short I don't expect it to have any real value when I reluctantly have to part with it

In that case wait until July - oil change is the most important, and that's been done.

To me it seems that only fairly recently have motorists been so worried about servicing.

I can recall very many cars that I owned and always serviced myself and was never asked about service history when selling, now it seems much more important.

Maybe it's because cars are so much more complicated than they were. Or maybe cars cost so much more so we're all worried about losing out on trade in or sale time.

Not that I'm missing getting my hands dirty or anything.
