I've just seen this car pop up on the internet site Classic Cars for Sale.

Its a 1989 M-B 300TE Estate Auto in dark blue with two previous owners, full service history, air-con, sunroof and cruise control. Its only got 89000 and its going for (what I think is a bargain price of ) £995.

Get in quick the ad has only been up for less than an hour, otherwise some of those astronomically priced dealers in Mercedes Enthusiast will grab it and put it up for something like £5995.

Dark blue - blue interior?! No, not again!:D
Not leather either which is a shame having had a cloth one, neighbour has one with leather which does look very nice. Suppose it is getting on a bit but I'd still want to knock a couple hundred off that.

Not bad, but it is 'Doom Blue' with the less-than-desirable blue cloth trim. Basic spec with hub caps, no leather etc.

In it's favour it's covered low mileage and appears to be unabused, it's all about how well it's been maintained and what work it's had done recently.

I think the mileage can sometimes be a red herring with these cars, they should drive superbly even with much higher mileage (200k+) if they've been maintained properly.

If it's rust free and drives the part it should be a good car for someone though :)

My dads old 300TE ( C reg 1985 , one of the very first ) has just been sold again we were told the other day , it now has 250k+ on it and is still going strong.

I saw a 1998 C Class Estate on autotrader today for £1000!

Sport, Facelift model so cheap!

Tempted, but then if I bought it I would be forever worrying about rust. I think I'll stick to my W201 - which has no rust bar a token few stone chips.
