Check that cheap cl600 !!!

After looking at his feedback regarding the very car that he is once again trying to sell just about sums up some of the perils of buying a car from eBay.

What a nightmare car ... No wonder the service history is missing ..

Clocked car at that price, who cares... These cars can be ran on a DIY budget, I've done so for the last 4 years although mine is a 55 not 600...

Two of everything to go wrong on the v12.

First vaguely serious failure would send that to the scrapyard.

Can't change a coil pack on a budget I'm afraid.

I'm sure someone in the US forum has his repaired... Something about poor joints on a circuit IIRC... I was told that ABC would cost me an arm and a leg... 2 struts, a pump, valve block, and a line have cost me no where near a grand DIYing it...

I can understand peoples concern about running costs but I would happily risk the running costs. If you didnt do work yourself or used Mercedes themselves/specialists it would be suicidal. There is always great support on here and used parts / deals on new parts on ebay etc
If the worse happened I would part it out and get most of my money back or sell as spares / repairs. I might lose a grand or so if I bought right but at least I will have had x months fun enjoyment in the meantime. It is a gamble of course but a calculated one to a degree in my mind.
However this car I would avoid ... No need to go for this when so many others sell for sub £4k.
One from a mature owner with a full service history and long MOT a better chance of avoiding big bills I would have thought.
I say the above but I am avoiding buying an Audi S8 because of gearbox problems! I really want a 2002 final addition...

Details please.
Have a 600 bi turbo off the road at the moment due to coil pack issues and many places have turned away a potential repair.

I'll have a look on the us forum and see if I can find it now

It's nearly always going to be a connection problem and soldered joints in a high temperature area are always going to suffer.

Guessing same engine in s600?

Few of them about ... Worth buying one for a couple of grand and stripping the engine bits off. Sell the interior and other non compatible bits ... Weigh in the shell and count your profits/ relax knowing you have a spare set of coils etc
