Climatronic Installed

I *think* that functionally, there is other stuff that comes as part of the full Luxury Climate Control option. I believe that the residual heat function has a separate pump, there's a sunshine sensor, and an additional charcoal filter.

I don't suppose that any of that matters in day to day use, though.

Thats correct. I believe you can retrofit the charcoal filter and the residual heating. Dont know about the sunshine sensor. I have done this too and looked into retrofitting the other parts but the costs doesnt make it worthwhile.

Well , like everything else you don't really need it till youve had it.

IVe got the charcoal filter and the climate unit automatically switches to resirc if the air quality in the cabin reaches a certain level , the residual heat function is great if youve left someone in the car , altho ive got the aux heater too , a seperate unit in the engine bay from webasto thats brilliant. Keeps the car real toasty. And last but not least the sunshine sensor really works! Sun beating in the car and the system is fully in control.

I really like a decent vent system , well worth it that option !

I was trying to gently point out the differences without making him feel bad about not having them. :)

I guess *very* few people would specify this option when buying the car new unless their attention was drawn to it.

In a Mercedes, this sort of thing really ought to be standard. Like 'comfort' seats used to be an option on E Class - was that an admission that the standard seats are uncomfortable?

ill get my coat .........:o

Sorry for the delay in replying. No I havent got the charcoal filter or residual heating but the unit seems to work very well and looks SO much better. MB charge something like £475 for "luxuary heating" which seems a touch dear for something which maybe should be standard. These units can be picked up on ebay for 80-100 mark BUT as is well documented elsewhere they may well not work on any given car. The unit I bought was brand new but had been plugged into another facelift w203 where it had failed to work at all.

Bargain!

I'm looking at a new Vito van at the moment and "Thermatronic" climate control is £1633 ("Tempmatic" aircon is standard on the 120 CDi). And aircon (or a heat exchanger) in the rear passenger area is extra!

if it was this easy on your car how easy would it be to convert a w208 to climatic or whatever its called?

You got aircon dials or climate digital control?

You are going to need a whole new centre dash fascia as its very different on a W208 to a W203.

This also requires a new heater core if it's the same as the W202 and W210 climate installations ;)

It's a BIG job.

Hi the ambient lighting is standard on all facelifted W203s. I will find out if I can source any though.
Are there any other ambient light sources, or is it just the glow from the RVM?

It's just from the RVM on the facelifted W203's. This is also on my list of mods to do... :D

Let me know how much it sets you back.

I'd love it, but I fear the cost will be prohibitive as mine has the self-dimming gubbins.

I bet it looks great though.

I have the ambient lights in the RVM, hardly notice them except when reaching out to adjust COMAND, then my hand glows orange! :)

Thanks for looking.

 I think I'll leave it then!! :D

I would! Like White said you only notice when your hand is in the way of the light, although back seat passengers see a nice "warm" looking dashboard!
