CLK 500
Hi all, total merc newbie here. Just bought a CLK 500 Elegance.

Absolutely loving the V8 power of my car, especially considering my previous car was a 2.0 Alfa Romeo GTV.

Just wanted to ask what your predictions of what kind of MPG i'm likely to achieve from my car. She's a 2003 model and an automatic. Good servicing records etc.

Cheers

16 mpg around town
28/30 mpg on the motorway if you are careful

I've got the same car and I get around 18 locally
Maybe 24 on a run
You know what you are letting yourself in for when you get one , so I just fill it up when it needs it , anyway the power makes it worth it and the Road tax is Cheap as mines a 53 Plate

Thanks, that's more or less what I was expecting

As you got yourself a v8, don't worry about mpg - enjoy

I know, to be honest I only use it 3 or 4 times a week as I live within walking distance from work. The power never fails to put a grin on my face though

Can confirm on a 300 mile run today mainly A Roads / Dual Carriageways mine achieved 25.3 with 2 Adults and 2 Kids

Official figures
Fuel consumption (urban) 16.7 mpg
Fuel consumption (combined) 24.6 mpg
Fuel consumption (extra urban) 33.6 mpg

There absolutely NO WAY on this earth you would get 33.6 out of a CLK500

Yesterday I drove gently using Cruise

I once just got 30 mpg out of my CLK 500 - had to sit a 50mph through miles of roadworks on the M1 using cruise control to achieve that - booooooooooooooring ! :D

I think I averaged 18mpg over a couple of years IIRC

The US gallon is smaller than the Imperial gallon, but even using Imperial gallons, the published fuel consumption figures are unrealistic. So they are for all cars. A realistic extra-urban figure is usually more like the claimed combined figure.

You could probably get 33.6 out of a CLK500 driving down a mountain road from a high mountain - so long as you didn't include the fuel used going up....

I have an E55. Thirsty? Don't care. When I press the loud pedal, Woo Hooooooooooooooooooooo.

In theory you are right (even the 24.6 seems an achievement) - but i am sure there will be a few owners who will even beat 33.6 .
I have heard of a Corvette owner getting 34 mpg from a 7 litre engine :dk:

On a long run to Cornwall I got over 33mpg from an SL500 I used to own..
