CLK Owners Beware!

MB warn against what exactly?

sorry if i've misunderstood.

MB warn about the door glass freezing to the seals making it difficult to get in the car. MB issued a Technical Service Bulletein which if I remember correctly Glojo posted on here. As Baron says a silicone lubricant does the job quite nicely. I use Moovit which I got off the Scooby forum works brilliant:thumb:

That is what I was referring to.

That is what they say. Not me.

It is interesting that they say if the windows are iced up the door cannot be closed, it does not say it cannot be opened.

Anyway, on 3 separate occasions last winter we had overnight temperatures of -17.8c and a long spell where the temp never even got above freezing during the day, staying at -5c. We never had any problem opening or closing the doors in those temps. I think the OP has a bigger problem that is going to take more than rubbing silicon on the door seals if the slightest frost freezes his doors shut.

You asked what MB said. you got it.

I never said there were not other factors involved.

But please remember, cars can get frozen shut. But it won't affect everybody and it wont affect them each time there is a cold snap.

As stated before, your air is a damn site drier than the humid conditions in the soft southern regions who probably don't give it a good pull anyway:D

But offering advice for his model, when they have a problem is hardly likely to be something that qualifies for a robust set of dispariging remarks is it? The problem exists with at least one members car and other people have had the same problem and have found a treatment which works. this is beneficial to all. whether you need to do it or not isn't relevant.

Surely that is the point of the forum?

MB point out that windows can get stuck when its frosty.

It is interesting that the bulletin talks about not being able to be closed.

That will be because the door glass will push past the roof seal when opened but not when the door is closed. It just rests on the seal it passed when opening, distorting the door panel.... just as MB state.

Knowing this, what is the point of opening the doors?

Just checking before I end up with graffiti remover :D

Heated leather seats mods

Hi Baron, how did you fit the Heated leather mod? I've just bought a CLK & it's freezing in winter first thing!

Lush

I am looking for some of the stuff recommended by Flanaia1, but in the meantime I shall be applying some Einszett product I got off the bay :thumb:

Are we only talking about convertibles?

Jon

No, frameless door windows regardless of roof materials. Conventional doors can do too though frameless ones seem worse affected. Perhaps it's seeing the glass distorting as you pull the door makes it seem worse....

OK. So just a bit of silicon spray along the door rubber should help?
