CLK W209 (2007) Brake Judder

I've had the same brake judder on mine for a few months, replaced both front & rear discs as they were worn to the limit but found one front & one rear caliper was sticking. Replaced with refurbished units & brakes are now back to normal.

Out of interest were they Sport Pack callipers on the front?

My indie has just replaced the left side calliper with a MB re-manufactured unit so fingers crossed this will resolve the problem. The sport pack calliper has two pistons so I guess if one is sticking you can end up with a situation where there are unequal forces that will then cause the disc to warp/wear unevenly.

Maybe it's something to do with the fact that these are aluminium callipers and you end up with corrosion between the calliper body and piston. I've had this with the brake pins before where they have had to be cut off / drilled out.

There do seem to be several firms out there that re-furbish callipers so maybe this is a more cost effective solution than the MB option?

Did the caliper solve your problem in the end moosehead?

This happened to me on a 2005 CLK55, after 2 months of having new front discs and pads from mercedes. the judder was horrible so booked it back in, they replaced them again at my cost, but I got 90% of it back a few weeks later when they were sent back to AMG who deemed them to be faulty.
So after another 2 months, it started again, the only thing that had been apart since then was the wheels were removed for new tyres.
All it was for me was the wheels weren't torqued correctly, I guess this must of distorted the hub and disc enough to give that effect, as when they were torqued correctly, the problem immediately disappeared.
Certainly worth checking.
